Landing a big fish: as good as it gets for Bush

The Guardian

There have been many memorable moments in George Bush's career - invading Iraq, declaring the war "accomplished", Hurricane Katrina. But the US president recalled that his greatest moment in office had come not on the field of battle but while out fishing.

Asked by Germany's Bild am Sonntag newspaper what he considered to be his greatest triumph, President Bush replied: "I've experienced many great moments. It's hard for me to name the greatest." He went on: "I would say that the best moment of all came when I caught a seven-and-a-half pound perch while fishing on my lake."

Mr Bush also said that where he came from "football didn't exist" and that as a boy he had not watched a single game. He expressed some confidence that the US team would do well in next month's World Cup. Asked whether they would win, he replied: "Who knows."

5. As other threads pointed out
Edited on Mon May-08-06 07:20 AM by Wickerman
there is either a translation error or he is lying. The previous world record for a Perch is 2 or 3 pounds less than the one he claims. And if he is lying,(duh, his lips moved) a freakin' perch? Not a bass, which is what most folks I know normally fish for in Texas lakes (and get annoyed by the damn perch one catches instead). Common man my ass - ignorant man.

Asswipe.

8. Really a Perch
actually he had in his boat a dog named Perch and taking a page from Chaney's book, as he cast he hooked the dog and when he pulled it from the water. He felt he could rightfully claim having caught a 7.5 lb Perch. By the way Perch has only minor injuries and will be holding a press conference later this week

7. We should be grateful he and Pickles haven't had sex in the last 5 years
or that would be the finest moment of his administration and we'd have to hear about it on the international news. How pathetic can one person get.
