Clinton-Gore Era Returns at Fundraiser

By BETH FOUHY, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 48 minutes ago

NEW YORK -
Bill Clinton invoked Scripture and
Al Gore warned of the looming calamity of climate change as the former president and vice president appeared onstage to honor an outgoing Democratic Party official.

Democrats sentimental for a return of the Clinton-Gore political era saw their wish briefly fulfilled Monday night at a dinner for
Democratic National Committee official Maureen White.

The two did not appear onstage together, joining committee Chairman
Howard Dean at different moments in the program. Gore was accompanied by his wife, Tipper Gore.

Speaking to the 500 donors who'd paid at least $1,000 to attend the dinner, Clinton urged the group to think of themselves as "values voters" whose concerns mirror those of most Americans.

1. You Can't Step Into the Same River Twice, Guys
and of all people, politicians should be most aware. The situation now is profoundly different than it was when these two had the world at their feet, and so must be their responses. Unless, of course, they are only invoking nostalgia, with no thought of making change, history, or a difference.

3. Al Gore is the man. He always was, but the press maligned him.
Gore has been an active environmentalist for 25 years or more. He is sincere and driven about this cause. This is not old stuff, y'all. This is the here and now, unless we decide to give up the ghost for human existence on the planet Earth. And as for Clinton; he is out there doing good. Let the good times roll.

4. Good move for Clinton to stand with Dean...since Hillary seems to
be trying to pull in the DLC and Lefty Repugs (as few as there are) This way Clinton gives the nod to Dean and Gore.

It's time Dean was recognized and that's a powerful team to do it.
