Writer Who Exposed Child Sex Ring Fears Worst Is Yet to Come
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/redir.php?jid=160fcd4b7336a1a8&cat=c08dd24cec417021

MEXICO CITY, Feb 24 (IPS) - When Mexican freelance journalist and human rights activist Lydia Cacho published a book last year exposing a paedophile ring, she was warned by friends and colleagues that she would run into trouble.

It did not take long for their warnings to come true. She was arrested by the police, driven 900 kms to the state of Puebla, held for 30 hours, mistreated and threatened. Now that she is the target of the wrath of powerful Mexican businessmen and politicians, she is worried that the worst is yet to come.

"Now I am news, and that protects me somewhat. But when I am no longer news, I'm afraid of reprisals by these criminals, who stop at nothing," Cacho told IPS.

Her book, "Los demonios del Edén" (The Demons of Eden), contains the personal accounts of minors who talk about the sexual abuse they suffered at the hands of a child prostitution and pornography ring in which prominent figures were allegedly involved.

She is an inspiration!!!

3. Not surprised by "arrested by police" in Mexico
In some places in Mexico, the police are more corrupt then the criminals.

6. I've seen the movie "Traffic"
and that was all about that sort of thing.

It's still nuts though. Being dragged off over a book.

It is quite brave of her considering that that was expected.

7. Sometimes, the cry "Help! Police!" can be a warning & not an appeal. . .

8. Echoes of Belgium...
where Marc Dutroux kidnapped, raped and killed scores of children, yet seemed to evade justice because he was being protected by some very powerful people. We had a similar case in my own city back in the '80's where the police department's child liaison officer (who would go on kid's tv shows) turned out to be a pedophile.

What is it about powerful people and pedophilia? How do they find each other?

11. Money, obscene amounts of money
and the confidence that no jury will, or can convict. Because of who they are. Because they can.

It's not the sex that damages for life, it's the threats, the violation of trust, the absolute need to control, expressed thru violence against the weakest members of society.

And it's a regular club, right here in the good o U S A. And everyone knows it. And the criminals are in charge. and we know they do it, and we avert our eyes. We've seen what they can, will and have done. Yet the dominant paradigm persists without a ripple.

What is your life worth? Is it time yet? America's aristocracy spits on you, spits on your children yet unborn. Spits on your daughter, son, wife, mother.

What will it take? Pucker up rosie!

13. hey--tell that to all the pro porners here at DU-
A couple of the DUers here have repeatedly said things like"child porn has nothing to do with "regular" porn-
They often insist that it is "Democratic" to use our civil "liberties" as we see fit--porn/drugs/-
-if it feels good do it--is NOT "Progressive" by definition

Porn (even that good ol "regular" porn) supports the ultra rich Corporate pigs of exploitation who have their greedy little paws all over it-
not just in Mexico but here at home.

Humans = animals that eat their young.

But hey, if it feels good do it!!
That's Democratic ya know!!
:sarcasm:

14. Depends,
Porn pretty much covers the entire spectrum of human sexuality.

Production of porn supports corporations (some may surprise you) But mom and pop operations abound. With mom and pop in starring roles.

My fancy is women who look like normal women (lucky me!) No pin-ups, please! Porn is just a window to our inner psyche.

I abhor images of bondage, humiliation, rape. This is reflective of my personality as a whole.

Not all humans eat their babies, only republicans.

17. -we need to focus on the real job at hand--not the real "hand job"--
Let's all just stop whacking our weenies!!!

If we don't think fast and grow past the "wow look at those" childish sexual tendencies (we all have them)
then this planet is going down and every living creature is going down when it does.

This means using our available mental capacity for creative solutions--
Emphasising our natural sex drive was ok at one time-
-But on a planet of 6.6 bilion the rules change-
We've gotten ourselves into a mess and need the optimum creative human capacity to rescue us.

It is time to stand up or be stood on.

and we could get that 6.6 billion number down a bit.

22. More propaganda.
A couple of the DUers here have repeatedly said things like"child porn has nothing to do with "regular" porn-

It's said because it's true. Child porn is the filming of a crime. You don't find child porn on the shelves of your local adult store.

Porn (even that good ol "regular" porn) supports the ultra rich Corporate pigs of exploitation who have their greedy little paws all over it-

Well, as far as actual adult entertainment movie production companies go, exactly ONE is a public corporation -- Private Entertainment, based in Europe.

As far as the whole Time Warner/GM/Marriot, etc that gets trotted out here on DU on occasion -- Adult entertainment is a very SMALL PORTION of their overall revenues. A drop in the bucket.

-if it feels good do it--is NOT "Progressive" by definition

But your vision of a authoritarian nanny state that tells us what we can watch in the privacy of our own homes is "progressive" -- LOL!

12. It's not just you, it's real
It's verifiable, and it's how they work. Remember, it's not about the sex. They will taunt and humiliate after the fact for fun. Its about little men with a pathological need to control others.

Kinda like the republican party!

They are being revealed and I remember the words of the late Cliff Baxter to Schilling... "They will say we are worse than child molesters"

This could be their legacy...

18. I always think of Andy when this topic comes up
He'd probably get a chuckle out of that association, huh?

During all the Jeff Gannon/Johnny Gosch talk, I read the book "The Franklin Cover-Up: Child Abuse, Satanism, and Murder in Nebraska" -- I don't think I've let my children out of my sight for more than 2 minutes since then. From there, I went on to read several other books, all written in different parts of the country, which basically outlined the same thing.

" Succar, who fled Mexico in 2003 after being exposed as the head of a child sex ring in Cancún. Succar was arrested in the United States in February 2004 and is currently awaiting the conclusion of an extradition trial.
