Helen Thomas: Rove leads Bush on GOP campaign trail
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/opinion/258111_thomas03.html

Karl Rove is whistling in the dark if he thinks his trademark political attacks on Democrats can work again in the mid-term elections this fall.

The American people are finally waking up, and the Democrats have the cards -- if they have the courage to play them.

Americans know that President Bush's strategy for victory in Iraq is costing more lives -- American and Iraqi -- almost every day as he heads into the third anniversary of the invasion of that oil-rich country. It was supposed to be a "cakewalk," remember?

Rove, deputy White House chief of staff and the Republican Party's political guru, seems to forget that Bush has picked up a lot of baggage since the last election. The Hurricane Katrina debacle and the Iraq quagmire come to mind and partially explain his decline in public opinion polls.

1. I agree with Thomas, but there's this ONE part that concerns me!
if they have the courage to play them.
I just got off the phone from talking to a friend in Pgh. Pa (I'm in Ga.). We were talking about WHY the Dems...NONE OF THEM...have the ba**s to tell it like it is?

The only Dem I've heard who has had the courage to actually call the Pubs on what they are is Dean! Why the hell can't he give lessons?????

5. Kerry had he chance and he blew it.
And NO I have't heard him TELLING IT LIKE IT IS! He's still playing the damn politically correct, don't be too harsh BS with this admin!

Did you watch Olberman tonight? Craig Crawford was on, and Keith, after playing sever clips of Shrub saying wire taps require a court order, asked him why the Dems aren't taking advantage of this? Craig said "Well, I guess they're unable or unwilling to call the President a liar!"

Craig is RIGHT! I'm just really tired of trying to find out why!

7. Unfair as it might be. John Kerry conceeded and people like my brother
now refuse to take him seriously. I myself would like to give him the benefit of the doubt. Because I do listen to what he has to say. And for the most part I agree with him. But he totally lost folks like my brother because he said he would fight If their was a hint of a stolen election. And the next day he conceeds? My brother calls Kerry and us Dems. The BCP party. AKA the "Big Conceeding Pussy" party. And I really wish I could say he is full of shit. But he is not. It is criticism that we as Dems deserve because when we should stand up and fight. To many of us. Our leadership (Kerry) just gave up. Kerry`s rightous words right now are great. For those of us who want a miricale to occur and see our party grow a spine. But like when I complimented Kerry the other day to my brother regarding him pushing for the Alito filibuster. My brother just said "Screw him he`s a big conceeding pussy". And I really can`t argue with that because in my opinion he is absolutely correct on that point. To make a long story short. Some people just won`t listen to Kerry because he did not fight when he should have last November.
Peace
Wildman
Al Gore is My President

8. I think Kerry is a prosecutor and knew he would not be able to seize the
evidence. It's just like on Law & Order when the DA tells the cops to come back with something they can prove. The ballots & the tabulators of 50 different states were not available for seizure

6. Dems must have been wiretapped or blackmailed by Bu$hco.
That is my only explanation.

9. There are others...
who speak out but don't get the face time...And Dean, I'm glad I supported him in becoming DNC Chair.
Where I live, many of the city council candidates (non-partisan) are saying they want a "civil" campaign. Candidates/politicians seem really concerned about being perceived as "attack dogs."
With nazis like these, we need more than attack dogs!
