NYT (Thursday) calls for filibuster
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/01/26/opinion/26thur1.html?hp

Judge Samuel Alito Jr., whose entire history suggests that he holds extreme views about the expansive powers of the presidency and the limited role of Congress, will almost certainly be a Supreme Court justice soon. His elevation will come courtesy of a president whose grandiose vision of his own powers threatens to undermine the nation's basic philosophy of government — and a Senate that seems eager to cooperate by rolling over and playing dead.

It is hard to imagine a moment when it would be more appropriate for senators to fight for a principle. Even a losing battle would draw the public's attention to the import of this nomination.

... A filibuster is a radical tool. It's easy to see why Democrats are frightened of it. But from our perspective, there are some things far more frightening. One of them is Samuel Alito on the Supreme Court.

1. NY Times, We're Glad You're Back!
It was depressing for a while when Howell Raines and Judith Miller were taking turns fellating the Bush administration. But now the Times is back!

Yeah!

:headbang:

9. WE need to wake the senators!
Keep the calls and faxes coming! Most Americans, sadly, can't even name a single SC justice, but know all the latest on Brad and Angelina. The senators need to hear from us! Over and over and over!

10. Menendez has been hearing from us. . .

Kean takes war with Menendez to Alito's turf

. . .Menendez spokesman Matthew Miller said, "We take the opinions of all of our constituents very seriously." He said the office had received 1,108 calls about Alito, with 918 against confirming him and 190 in favor.

"We'll add Junior's call to the list, and that will make it 191," Miller said.. . .

Now, just need to get solid confirmation he's not one of the Filibuster obstructionists.

13. You Wrote My Post for Me...
Thanks Newsjock,

I was going to write a post along exactly the same lines--but you beat me to the punch, and in a far better fashion.

Robert

P.S. What the F*CK are the Democrats waiting for? Say, a development which, if allowed to stand, could influence the very fundamental nature of American government for the next 30, even 40 years?!?!? USE the fucking FILIBUSTER! If the Republicans use their so-called 'Nuclear Option', then say 'do your worst!'

Sorry, couldn't help it. ;-)
