Eric Alterman: (Mis)Leading America (new book coming out!)
The fiscal irresponsibility of this administration boggles the mind, though not really any less than any of its other policies, carefully examined. Take, for instance, missile defense. When reality confronts ideology in this administration, reality had better get out of the way fast. I happen to be paying a lot of attention to Niger lately, but you can view just about any one of this administrations policies and discover an alarming mix of extremism, dishonesty and incompetence that is at once so vast and so dangerous the mind cannot fully synthesize it.

Mark Green and I are going to try to do justice to it in our forthcoming The Book on Bush: How George W. (Mis)Leads America, but owing to the continued power of the conservatives to dominate debate, truth and consequences be damned, the issues will likely be treated as an ideological offensive, rather than the reasoned (and alarming) analysis it undoubtedly will be.

1. And I will personally send a copy to CHARLIE ROSE!
Harrumph!

That was Charlie's most revealing interview...when he interviewed Eric. Kept leading with questions founded on Bush lies...like, "but after 9/11, don't you think Saddam blah blah blah....."

And Eric responded: Saddam is not connected to 9/11, Charlie.

Charlie: Yeah, well it hasn't been totally proven yet....

Eric: Yes, Charlie, it has.....

And so the interview went around and around........

Yeah, Charlie, a x-mas present is on the way!!!!!

5. I saw it!
Funny thing is, I NEVER watch TV anymore, but it was SO
bloody hot here, and I decided to lay down and see what
was on CSPAN- just happened to flip onto the channel and see
Alterman on Scarfaceburrowed. What a smug ass he is!
And If I hadn't been so drained from the heat- I would have gottne
up and punched my TV everytime that frat boy with the red hair
opened his piehole. What a pompous twit he was! WHO the fuck
are these people, where do they come from?
Cyber reptile farms in Dick Cheney's bunker?
I felt bad for Alterman- he was SO ganged up on by their
High School Debate team tactics- hate mongering, loud mouthed,
bad mannered little thugs- no discussion, no debate, just
LOUD overbearing, unintelligent stream of rhetoric spewing.
I loved how Alterman held them to the POINTS- with
"You haven't answered the question, please answer my question."
It was the perfect way to reveal the lack of intelligent debating
skills form Scarfacew and his smug thug of a red haired frat boy guest.
God, it is embarrasing to think people in other countries might see
what passes for news and discourse in our beloved country.
DAMN these people to hell- they make us all look like fools.
On a positive note, yes, I agree that Alterman handled dealing with
imbeciles very well.

4. Don't know if I can take anymore.
I'm currently reading What Liberal Media and it is literally scaring the $hit out of me. How do we correct things? How can we demand that the media be, if not fair, at least neutral? After finishing the chapters on Election 2000 and Al Gore, I honestly don't know how the next Dem candidate has a chance in hell. Any more Alterman for me at this point, and I might just have to move to Canada!
