Dowd: Drunk on Rummy
http://www.nytimes.com/2003/09/28/opinion/28DOWD.html

There are many disturbing passages in the soon-to-be-published book "Rumsfeld: A Personal Portrait," by Midge Decter.

Ms. Decter is doyenne of the neocon movement, wife of the neocon patriarch Norman Podhoretz; mother of John Podhoretz, the neocon Iraqi war cheerleader and new "West Wing" adviser; and friend of the neocon clan of the über-hawk Bill Kristol.

Her son wrote in his New York Post column last February that those who worried that the Bush team had no postwar vision were "pathetic" sophists: "No one has thought more deeply or seriously about what a post-Saddam Middle East could or should look like than Bush's foreign-policy team. The question has been a near-obsession for conservative foreign-policy intellectuals for more than a decade."

Now Mom has written a love ode to the 71-year-old "studmuffin" defense secretary so palpitating it recalls the clip of a teenage Judy Garland singing "You Made Me Love You" to a picture of Clark Gable.

1. Ms. Dowd seems to have had an epiphany.
I seem to remember her braying, "I love you, Donald!" in a column written after September 11, 2001, when Rummy was the star of the administration's show. (That being said, I do like her op-ed pieces). I wonder what took the bloom off the rose?

she did mention PNAC in this one. Gee, why not a few years ago when it mattered, Dowd?

"Any way the wind blows, it don't matter to me."
as Frank Zappa put it.

7. Now if we can just get the punditocracy talking about the CNP
who are dovetailing with the PNACers, they're at least as scary. Asscroft is one of them. And lets not forget Grover Norquist.

that is my favorite pic of Rummy. That's exactly what I thought of when I read this op-ed. You posted it once with Rum saying-I wonder if Maureen Dowd still thinks I'm Sinatra. But my real fave was the Rumster saying-Hey, Dollface, want to see my Prominent Hammer? You do capture the true Rummy. (On edit-I'm a dope. That's the caption you have on it-about him being Sinatra. Fingers typing, brain not working, sheesh...)

lotsa differnt captions.

they kinda devolved into horrifying stuff like

but I still find myself doodling rumsfelds on notebooks along with the rest of the grisly gang while half-watching tv footage. generally my friends steal them. the ones that remain are scanned.

what scares me is that I end up playing Rummy in this upcoming film. i can do a credible "my goodness!" - What will I do when he gets smoked out of his hidey-hole? Probably laugh hysterically,

thanks for the thumbs up!

"Rummy Rummy Rummy I've got love in my tummy" :-)
