The comic genius of the Rude Pundit
This insightful, if rude take on the position that media execs find themselves in at this point in time will make you laugh - and give you hope.

http://rudepundit.blogspot.com/2005/06/is-media-in-teeter-before-tipping-let.html

The shrubbery is about to be trimmed.

Is the Media in the Teeter Before the Tipping?:

Let us posit a theory of media tipping points for a moment or two here. President Bush's approval ratings have sunk to lows that make the post-9/11 Dubya lovefest seem as distant as, well, Bush, Sr.'s post-Persian Gulf lovefest. And when you get to specific issues, like Iraq or just about anything, or the direction of the country, the big mo on George W. is down, down, down. Consistently. In every scientific poll. (More...)

1. Haha
That was, if not counter to every political ettiquete and more likely to drive away readers, quite refreshing.

10. He had me with 60,000 aluminum tubes
I first read Rudie when he was describing what Edwards needed to tell Cheney in the Veep debate. I laughed, I cried, it became a part of me.

It is an aquired taste. I had to get through, oh, three sentences to reach this one, that hooked me for good:

My legal career was based on helping individuals dicked over by the very kind of corporate and government culture this evil motherfucker across this stupid ass table has fostered. And don't you fuckin' gimme that stroke victim smirk, Dick, or I'll come across and start shovin' aluminum tubes up your ass, all 60,000 of 'em, one anodized tube at a goddamn time.

Killer, just killer material.

Though to be honest, had I started reading his blog back in 2003, I'd probably be turned off. Funny how the 2004 campaign made the profane sacred (to me at least.)

13. Yup - Cheney educated us ...
that profanity is an acceptable political tool - even on the floor of the Senate.

5. Right on the money!
Did I say money? You betcha! 'Cause it's the one thing big media oligarchs care about. Rudepundit puts it SO well...

You're that multinational, multinetworked corporate exec, and you know that, in the end, you better give the people what they want. And, more and more, it's seeming like the people want the heads of Republicans presented to them on platters. Now there's a job a real news organization ought to be licking its lips to dive into.

And here's a reality check for folks who hate Murdoch owned Fox News, the NY Post, etc.... (with good reason I hasten to add. They are such Bushco shills... )

Which news organization broke the DSM story? The Times of London.
Who owns the Times of London? Murdoch.

It'll be interesting to see if/when ol' Rupe's other media concerns (and the MSM in general) shift gears and follow the money!

I'm gonna give this a kick. Nice work, dchill.
