Reagan Republican Calls for Bush Impeachment
It is difficult for a conservative to argue against another conservative - especially if the accuser stood upon the conservative mountaintop.

A Reputation in Tatters

George W. Bush and his gang of neocon warmongers have destroyed America’s reputation. It is likely to stay destroyed, because at this point the only way to restore America’s reputation would be to impeach and convict President Bush for intentionally deceiving Congress and the American people in order to start a war of aggression against a country that posed no threat to the United States.

America can redeem itself only by holding Bush accountable.

As intent as Republicans were to impeach President Bill Clinton for lying about a sexual affair, they have a blind eye for President Bush’s far more serious lies. Bush’s lies have caused the deaths of tens of thousands of people, injured and maimed tens of thousands more, devastated a country, destroyed America’s reputation, caused 1 billion Muslims to hate America, ruined our alliances with Europe, created a police state at home, and squandered $300 billion dollars and counting.

-cut-

Abundant evidence now exists in the public domain to convict George W. Bush of the crime of the century. The secret British government memo (dated July 23, 2002, and available here), leaked to the Sunday Times (which printed it on May 1, 2005), reports that Bush wanted "to remove Saddam, through military action, justified by the conjunction of terrorism and WMD. But the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy. . . . But the case was thin. Saddam was not threatening his neighbors, and his WMD capability was less than that of Libya, North Korea or Iran. . . . The (United Kingdom) attorney general said that the desire for regime change was not a legal base for military action. There were three possible legal bases: self-defense, humanitarian intervention or UNSC (U.N. Security Council) authorization. The first and second could not be the base in this case. Relying on UNSCR 1205 of three years ago would be difficult."

13. Why not before 2007? Perhaps the Republicans want to try and get safely
re-elected in 2006 before they give up der Shrub.

Bad calculation. He will run the party into the ground well before then.

36. Yes but
technically we need a majority in the House Judiciary committee to bring the articles of impeachment. So in order for that to happen, we need to win in Nov 2006, which puts impeachment hearings into 2007. Just technical reasons is all.

26. Nancy would go beyond my theory of "management" resigning *
It would be like heaven, Nancy turns on * and delivers the coup de grace, evens the score for messing with Ronnie and all the other people who would benefit from stem cell research. She can cloak it in any issue or combination of issues she'd like. My :tinfoilhat: theory is that * is just to dangerous for major factions of "management" -- you know "them". They've had enough, they'll free CM (corporate media) to go after him and then just like Nixon -- Cheney goes, we get a pseudo-competent VP and * is "resigned."

Nancy is the fantasy league choice, however, because she could nail the sucker with one shot.

I've always wondered if Ron Jr. is a stalking horse for her. OK, stop it auto, you're getting carried away.

:hi:

28. I emailed Mr Reagan and requested that he read the information ...
...in this thread and in the "America ceased" thread that I started yesterday.

I requested that he call for the indictment and prosecution of Mr Bush, Mr Cheney and others. And, I requested that he share the information with First Lady Reagan.

Peace.

15. Very interesting and refreshing to read the comments of intelligent
conservatives in response to the article. I wish more of them would get involved. They know we've all been had just as liberals and progressives do. They are also horrified at what has been done in our name.

34. that is why i try to always make the distinction of calling them neoCONs
i have plenty of conservative neighbors and friends up here in NH who aren't fooled by these thugs and are mad as hell over the LIES to get us into war.

i am still reading but haven't seen anyone talk about rummy's OSP, yet.
that coupled with the UK memo leaves no doubt that they fixed Intel to LIE to Americans to sell them on their ILLEGAL PREVENTIVE WAR, which even if he did have a WMD program wouldn't justify an invasion.

as the UN said, this war was ILLEGAL and when will our Dem leaders call them on it? since they most of them voted for it they may feel compromised but now that is cleared that they were lied to they have PLENTY of political cover, wtf r they waiting for another 911 to pull the neoCONs a$$es out the fire

thanks for sharing that, very interesting read :toast:

peace

39. He seems to have Paleocon affiliations
Not exactly a Pat Buchanan type, but something in that general direction. Traditionalism, elitism -- not a very appealing political style under most circumstances. But people of that stripe are coming to absolutely despise Bush and what Bush is doing to this country. And that is all to the good.

7. kicking and nominating...This is very important.
We need to blast this out to the media, and also to every Congressional representative, Republicans and Democrats.

Remind Republicans who voted to impeach Clinton for lying about sex that lying to falsify justifications for war is a far more serious offense. They've already established that lying is a valid basis for impeachment, so what are they waiting for? There is no room for such hypocrisy with our children's futures at stake.

10. We all need to mention the word "Impeachment" to everyone we
communicate with....emails to friends, media, etc...I've done it by saying, "what's this talk about people wanting Bush impeached"...then I go on and mention the British memo. The responses have been interesting. I think if enough of us continue to bring it up, perhaps, just perhaps it might start getting mentioned through-out the media....we can only hope.

way home from work.

Wow! What a column!

If a Dem had said this, the Media and the Repukes would have demanded a retraction from him/her, and if Howard Dean had said this, he would have been called a "loose cannon" by the DLC and the timid House Dems.

Otherwise, it makes him a scapegoat, as it were.

35. A gentle reminder of what the administration knew and when.
POWELL, 2/24/2001: “He has not developed any significant capability with respect to weapons of mass destruction. He is unable to project conventional power against his neighbors” “The Iraqi regime militarily remains fairly weak. It doesn't have the capacity it had 10 or 12 years ago. It has been contained.”

RICE, 7/29/01 “He does not control the northern part of his country. We are able to keep arms from him. His military forces have not been rebuilt.”

VICE PRES.CHENEY: Saddam Hussein's bottled up. "In my time at Centcom, I watched the intelligence, and never -- not once -- did it say, 'He has WMD.'“

GEN. ZINNI, Wash. Post, 12/23/03 "There is no reliable information on whether Iraq is producing and stockpiling chemical weapons or where Iraq has or will establish its chemical warfare agent production facilities." Defense Intelligence Agency, 9/2002, USN&WR

The radicals no longer care for his puppet exploits, and nobody wants to see the likes of Ralph Reed be president of the U.S....Who is really controlling Bush.

Dick Cheney you had might as well become president so we can all rip the rest of your reputation to shreds. Dick Cheney is an evil corporate emporer, reigned in by the promises of weapon and defense contractors abroad....

Convict and remove George W. Bush but remember the real evil will need to be CONVICTED itself, and thrown out of office.
