Houston Chronicle: Senator Links Violence, Judges. (Cornyn)
Cornyn suggests 'political decisions' may be a factor in recent incidents at courthouses.

WASHINGTON - In an eyebrow-raising speech on the Senate floor Monday, U.S. Sen. John Cornyn suggested a connection between "political decisions" by some judges and incidents of courthouse violence across the nation.

The remarks by Republican Cornyn, a former justice on the Texas Supreme Court, prompted immediate criticism from Democrats.

Cornyn, citing recent cases of violence against judges, said he wondered "whether there may be some connection between the perception in some quarters on some occasions where judges are making political decisions yet are unaccountable to the public, that it builds up and builds up and builds up to the point where some people ... engage in violence."

The violence is unjustified, Cornyn said, but is "a concern that I have that I wanted to share."

2. A threat is a threat, regardless of how it is couched!
This is reaching the lowest point possible for our late republic. The next step will be rounding up the "incouragables"...

3. What a really stupid thing to say:
Why doesn't he just advocate killing judges who pass judgements he doesn't like?

6. His statements
as reported imply that, while the "violence" is wrong, it is understandable and, essentially the fault of the judges who issue "activist" rulings. Actually violence against judges is rare and, hopefully, will remain so. This appears to be an opening salvo in a more concerted effort by the radical right to capture and/or undermine the judicial branch of our government. IMHO Dems need to respond to the meat of this comment and not just the "stupidity" - call it an attack on the judiciary and defend our form of government: defend the constitution by making it more clear who the real haters of America are. They expose themselves daily but seem never to be called on it.

7. Up until the time Cornyn became a Senator
I gave Cornyn credit for having what at one time appeared to be a lot of intelligence. I've observed him from the time when he was a state district judge in San Antonio up to the Supreme Court and as Attorney General. I didn't agree with much, if anything he did or said. But I gave him credit.

Since then, Cornyn has showed an enormous propensity for aquiring foot in mouth disease.

4. If there is a connection, it's because republicans and their...
... hate-radio minions have done everything possible to demonize judges. They've spents years and years flinging about phrases like "activist judges" and "judicial tyranny" -- and now it's all coming home to roost.

Happy now, republicans? Un-American filth.

5. This is the same idiot who compared gay sex to
having sex with a box turtle.

How does shit like this even get printed? I mean seriously, the guy in Atlanta shot up the courtroom over stuff like Terri Schiavo? Maybe it had more to do with the defendant not wanting to go to prison - I'd like to see him make that connection - his head would explode.
