Victory is ours since Bush know Vietnam lessons
SIOUX CITY -- As nation building begins in Iraq, dissenters abound with the charge that America is repeating the mistakes made in Vietnam. It would be dangerous for America to repeat those mistakes, but sadly, most people failed to learn the right lessons from Vietnam. They believe that America abuses its power, that America should not get into conflicts with small nations, that America cannot win against guerrilla forces and that America should leave the responsibility for leadership of the free world to the U.N. If Americans believe that these are the lessons of Vietnam, then we are destined to defeat.

We will not lose in Iraq because we have an intelligent president who understands the real lessons from Vietnam, that the United States can win a war militarily, yet lose it politically. Many people seem to forget that we won the war in Vietnam militarily.

In Iraq, we have won militarily. We have begun the nation-building process, and it is now time to fully fund such a process. Bush's requested $87 billion is a small price to pay to have another free allied nation in the Middle East.

The public is being misled by presidential candidates vying for political power and inflammatory treatment of events by the media is dangerous for our country. It would be sad if American morale dissipated after achieving the quickest, most decisive military victory in history. We must keep the faith. We must know that our president understands what is going on and that our military is doing the right thing in Iraq. -- Keith Radig

3. That last sentance is a classic freeper refrain
We must know that our president understands what is going on and that our military is doing the right thing in Iraq.

A good friend who by some freak of nature is Republican says stuff like that. That the President is trying to do the right thing, that he has information that we don't have. Blah blah blah. I'm trying to turn him around and get him to think for himself. But he is stubborn.

5. This arsehole would be screaming for the President's impeachment
if Clinton had pulled the same unwarrented action in Iraq....but of course, Clinton (and no Democrat) would, because the party membership would stand against such baseless reasons. That's the real difference. Bush's base allowed him to lead us to this war and now must provide him with the excuses to cover their own complicity in this unjust war.
