Letter to CNN
My one little voice undoubtably has no influence on your reporting. That said, I have stopped watching any and all reports on your station because I am simply disgusted with your failure to hold the Bush administration accountable for its actions.

CNN used to be a reliable news outlet. Currently, it promotes fluff, modern day bread and circuses. There is no longer spine behind CNN reporting. And, I'll be damned if I waste another moment on the drivel being spewed on your network.

Your ONE saving grace is Christiane Amanpour. The rest of your weasels are little more than a weak-kneed bunch of hacks. Oh, how I miss Cronkite and the other REAL journalists.

1. I saw the same reference of "bread and circuses" today
in a health book I'm reading. It's about how the medical and food producing corporations keep us dumb about what is good for our health and wellbeing.

2. Well said
If you have specific instances, you might want to include them.

One instance I might point out is the poll at the CNN website this morning:

Two years on, is it time to end protests against the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq?

This isn't quite a loaded question, but it approaches it. It suggests that there was nothing to question about the war itself, but that those who continue to challenge it are the problem. That is utter nonsense.

3. Thanks for the vote of confidence, JackRabbit.
I followed up with this:

Your daily poll asks: "Two years on, is it time to end protests against the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq?"

Perhaps you might stop begging the question. Perhaps you MIGHT ask why people still so strongly object to the war two years after it began. Perhaps you might ask where the weapons of mass destruction are? Or, you might ask what happened to enriched uranium? Instead of implying the "questioners" are to blame, you MIGHT ask why they are so fervent in demanding answers. You MIGHT do that if you were a real news organization.

Colin Powell made several clear, well-defined claims, not in a chance conversation, but in FRONT OF THE UNITED NATIONS. We all saw it, chemical and biological labs, mobile labs, un-manned drones, dusty photos taken from the CIA website which were originally taken in the 80s. RUMSFELD CLAIMED WE KNEW WHERE THE WEAPONS WERE IN THE VICINITY OF TIKRIT. Not "we suspect." He went on international news and claimed: "WE KNOW."

You, the fourth estate, which is supposed to watch out for the well-being of the general populace, have failed us miserably.

You appear as corrupt as the people you act as mouth-pieces for. Why should we listen to or trust you?

5. CNN ad for interns posted at Gannon's "school"!
CNN is recruiting for interns at CNN news on two conservative websites run by the Liberty Institute, the right-wing fake journalism "school" that "trained" Jeff Gannon! It seems that CNN is a campaign to out right-wing Faux News. Not only do we have government sponsored propaganda being aired as "news", but now CNN is openly TRYING to recruit biased journalism interns.

View the ads:

http://www.leadershipinstitute.org/04RESOURCES/RootsLef...

This raises the "propaganda/fake news" scandal to new heights. This violates the public trust as well as journalistic ethics.

I posted this in the general discussions area earlier today, where a DU member revealed that the woman listed as the contact for these ads may be operating out of a GOP front group in Virginia. We need to get to the bottom of this, DUers. Please help! I've already alerted Media Matters and Democrats.com. If anyone here has contacts at DailyKos, the DNC, or anywhere else that can help get word out on this, please help.

Also, some DU sleuths found that other networks also have ads posted at this site. Just how many are seeking fake, biased journalists? Or is this an outside plot by right-wingers to infiltrate the networks? How many already have? This would certainly explain the far right tilt of the network "news", which is anything but.
