Rove's patronage position

.....Rove's new job will put him in charge of coordinating policy development by the Domestic Policy Council, the National Economic Policy Council and the Homeland Security Council.

The selection of Rove to oversee these agencies at what is supposed to be a critical point in American history speaks volumes about how seriously the president takes his responsibilities.

Instead of choosing the ablest person available to coordinate economic, social and national security policy-making, Bush has turned the deputy chief of staff job into a patronage position. And he has filled it with a campaign aide who has a reputation for always putting political intrigues ahead of the public interest.

1. That absolutely everything is put ahead of the public interest should
be common knowledge to absolutely anyone with a lick of sense, everyone who puts country ahead of partisanship, and loyalty to the Republic and its Constitution ahead of loyalty to an individual.
