GOSS URGES CIA EMPLOYEES TO SUPPORT BUSH POLICIES IN MEMO [drudge]
GOSS URGES CIA EMPLOYEES TO SUPPORT BUSH POLICIES IN MEMO
Tue Nov 16 2004 21:18:43 ET

Porter Goss, the new intelligence chief, has told Central Intelligence Agency employees that their job is to "support the administration and its policies in our work," a copy of the internal memorandum shows.

The NEW YORK TIMES is planning to lead Wednesday's paper with the memo, newsroom sources tell DRUDGE.

MORE

"As agency employees we do not identify with, support or champion opposition to the administration or its policies," Goss said in the memorandum, which was circulated late on Monday. He said in the document that he was seeking "to clarify beyond doubt the rules of the road."

3. we don't identify w/, support or champion opposition to the administration
Very good, Goss, at least you understand half of it. The other half is: "We also do not identify with, support or champion positions held by the administration. We gather intelligence, review the facts, and make assesments devoid of political partisanship or hackery."

4. Oh. I thought the job of the CIA was to gather intelligence.
You know, collect evidence, facts, that kind of stuff. Information that can protect us from attacks from bad guys.

Silly me for thinking these things were important, when the real function of the CIA turns out to be to cover the Bush Regime's ass. Guess Shrub learned a lot from his buddy Vlad "The Impaler" Putin, the old KGB guy. Is the CIA now our KGB?

7. Their job is to defend and uphold the Constitution, not a political party
Goss is trying to turn the CIA into a political apparatus of the White House, pretty much in the same way the KGB was the enforcement arm of the Kremlin.

This is really bad precedent.

Who voted for the Goss nomination???????

10. Seriously, seriously, scary. Trying to wrap my mind around what
karmic forces come to bear against such a corruption of the very nature of intelligence's role in national security.

But it is in line with nominating as Security of State a person who, though skilled and charming, filled the place of National Security Adviser with something more like Chief Apologist or Secretary of Talking Points.

Get out your umbrellas, 'cus a hard rain's gonna fall.
