(Fox "News"'s) Murdoch sees ("more positive") business channel by summer
Edited on Tue Nov-16-04 09:18 PM by Tab
Rupert Murdoch, chairman and chief executive of the media conglomerate News Corp., told reporters Tuesday that he hoped to launch a business news cable channel by the summer.

Murdoch has already announced plans to launch a reality-show channel and has indicated an interest in the business channel, but so far he has disclosed few specific details, including the intended time frame for the launch.

Speaking to reporters following the annual shareholder meeting of Fox Entertainment Group Inc., News Corp.'s U.S. entertainment subsidiary, Murdoch said he saw an opportunity for a new cable business news channel by offering more "positive" programming than was currently available.

"I think CNBC is a pretty disappointing channel at the moment," Murdoch said.

I can't believe Fox will actually do something correctly. It seems too good to be true.

Well now that they cannot hide the fact that the bush regime
is bankrupting the nation, Rupert needs to find a way to make
it look acceptable to the sheeple. Lipstick on a pig....

8. Where the Liberals are missing the ball:
Would you finally out Fox for selling pablum to our American youth? Have you seen the crap that goes on as reality shows on Fox? Is that moral values? Jon Stewart should take them to task for the way this conservative asshole has managed to triangulate conservatives news and braindead programs.

20. Jon Stewart isn't the one who lives in hypocrisy.
Democrats have always been temerous of pointing the finger at Republicans because Dems have a higher threshold of tolerance for such things. So the Republicans have set the standards of morality by crying foul every time they saw something that was in opposition of their "morals." The Dems, on the other hand, look the other way when Republicans commit the same infractions.

There has to be a way of showing them that Republican values are all smoke and mirror. For example, if we have pedophile Catholic priests, YOU KNOW we must also have pedophile Baptist ministers. Why has that story been hushed hushed?

Heck, I made the same mistake. Back in my day when I was considered a Liberal. I had the ear of just about every conservative nut case BECAUSE they knew I would not judge them. That was a mistake. I think we now should turn their own guns against them, to point out their hypocrisy.

10. Then they can preach that jobs are abundant and the economy
is roaring 24 hrs a day. Don't worry about the deficit,
the huge inflation because of the prive of oil, the weak
dollar, opec changing its bias to the euro. We need
more "positive" news and only Faux will deliever.

18. I thought CNBC already did that!
I watch CNBC a decent amount, when I'm working from home. (I pretty much tune in for some noise to keep away distractions) Although portions of their coverage are pretty good, the economy's always getting better, stocks are always poised for huge gains, and there are no gray clouds in sight.

I'm wondering how Fox could be any MORE "positive". At some point, investors and business people would have to notice the disconnect, and realize that a "more positive" Fox channel would have no benefit to them. It's like getting stock tips from a broker on a cocaine high. As optomistic as he is, you shouldn't trust what he says.

11. Yea CNBC is disappointing. I guess they are cheering leading a sinking
ship loud enough for Murdoch's taste. Do we really need another channel making nonsense comments like "increases in oil price will drive demand down there by leading to lower oil prices". Huh?

14. Everything is fine! Nevermind the weak dollar, inflation, high oil
prices, heating oil skyrocketing, jobs going overseas, people being underemployed. Lipstick on a pig channel. I'm so glad I canceled cable.

15. Murdoch Sees "Stock Pimp Channel" By Summer
Edited on Tue Nov-16-04 11:16 PM by hatrack
Hmm, wonder if its messages could dovetail with Chimpy McPantsload and his "big ideas" for "saving Social Security" . . . Maybe? Just maybe?

Maybe they could rent out the Teletubbies to explain to their viewers how the Federal Reserve system works, or what "interest" is - all in words of no syllables, of course.

Larry Kudlow to host at least 4 hours of "programming"
a day.

National Sales tax will be the primary focus.

You buy advertising and I'll pump your stock. We're in the zero accountability decade and it would be a good way to make money.
