Tanks on the streets of LA
QuickTime movie at 6.8 megabytes

LOS ANGELES, November 9, 2004 - At 7:50 PM two armored tanks showed up at an anti-war protest in front of the federal building in Westwood. The tanks circled the block twice, the second time parking themselves in the street and directly in front of the area where most of the protesters were gathered. Enraged, some of the people attempted to block the tanks, but police quickly cleared the street. The people continued to protest the presence of the tanks, but about ten minutes the tanks drove off. It is unclear as to why the tanks were deployed to this location. Uploaded here is video from the event.

Military's Presence at Antiwar Rally Is Called a Coincidence

Los Angeles Times (subscription), CA - Nov 12, 2004

... a Los Angeles Police Department spokeswoman. "The 'tanks' were there for Veterans Day. They ride in the parade and wave.". The antiwar protest, sponsored by the ...

BUT, this guy reports differently:

He says he heard that "The tanks "got stuck at a traffic light," but the video shows them sitting there pretty long.

dunnooo.

i guess that the tanks were just "slave to the traffic light".

;)

At least Disinfo.com is running it and that happened in last 15 minutes. Watch it grow. I guess DU needs a "Late Breaking" News section in addition to "Latest Breaking" News.

5. The Late Breaking News idea...
...is a good one. It would be for posting older news stories. It could be called LBN:2.

6. MIGHT NOT BE BREAKING TO NEWS TO US. BUT NO ONE ELSE SEES IT!!
I am getting totally disgusted by the media blackout on these issues. They are either "buried" on back pages or given a 10 second slot on a newscast ( not MSM either ). I can't even get an Editor of the Detroit News to respond to me about a story he "buried"; and I have E-mailed him twice. And, I don't care who knows about my complaint.

7. Tanks against protesters in L.A.
This just goes to show you how far people are lacking in being informed. We have other options here now; it's not 1970, 1980, nor 1990. You have to take responsibility for your own opinions, research and actions. I think it is so weak, damaging to ones' psyche, that, on this site, so few people have any actual facts surmised; not to mention emotions. Very scary.

OK. It's late. Sorry for bad preps, etc....
