breaking on FOX - Airborne division in firefight now
Edited on Tue Sep-02-03 12:19 PM by grasswire
FOX news just broke into their regular programming to tell of a firefight involving the 82nd Airborne. Will post more info as it becomes available.

Time magazine pundit said Bush will be in trouble because some Republicans in Congress are peeling away on Bushco management of the war.

26. The 101st is in Iraq. Where's the 82nd?
And do they still have a third rapid-response force in reserve in the U.S.? In fact, I thought they were always supposed to have two in reserve.

the 82nd is currently deployed both in Afghanistan and Northern Iraq and the 101st is in Iraq alone....though I may be wrong. If things have not changed since I was in...the 82nd are paratroopers and the 101st are helicopter jumpers (airmobile).

27. They were in Afganistan last year; now they're in Iraq.
"The 82nd Airborne Division, which helped overwhelm the airport on its way to Baghdad this week, can be viewed as the New York Yankees of the U. S. army - a unit filled with stars."

See Naples Daily News, April 5th, 2003.
I tried the link from Google, but it no longer works. However you can see the article on Google for verification.

Unless they've been returned to Afghanistan

15. What are some US dead, more wounded to upstage Kerry in the news?
Edited on Tue Sep-02-03 12:29 PM by Divernan
This is exactly the way Bush uses his military! It's the kiss of death to have a Faux reporter embedded with a military unit - because Bush knows he'll get the most favorable coverage on a battle from Faux.

20. at least the freepers admit the distractics exist!

"Goodness the timing couldn't be better.

Remember we got the boys, Osay and Quday, the same day Gephardt spoke about the President's "failed foreign policy". Maybe the military can help out and supply us with Sadaam to make Ketchup Boy Kerry look like an even bigger fool on his big day."

Since so much hot air gets blown denying stuff like this - they don't buy it either.

catch him now...then bush will have a nice long 14 months until the election. 14 months of no new possible victories in Iraq. Every day from here out is a nightmare for the Bush administration if they catch him.

August is over. Now it is time for the marketing. They have probably literally had Sadamm "on ice" for sometime and waited for the right time to "capture" him. Nothing is too evil for this administration.

16. The 82nd is in Iraq...they believe it is a couple guys with RPGs.
That is what the reporter there was saying. Low level guerilla (?) tactic. A couple of RPGs fired and then run and hide. They were sending out the Delta fast response teams in Hummers when I saw it. Said it was not the kind of thing that rose to the level of an airstrike response.

22. "was Kerry in Vietnam?"

genius on freep sez:

"SwinneySwitch

Wasn't Ketchup Boy Kerry in Vietnam?

First I heard of such a claim!

I'll do some research and see if I can confirm!"

Goes to show you how hafbaked they are. They'll pick up on the slurs or the disinformation but not the other stuff.

And anyway, how is being a wealthy guy bad for Kerry but completely ok for their boy, aWol?
At least kerry didn't get his money from the nazis.

37. you go the wrong Kerry
think you are talking about BOB Kerry, not John

http://www.citizen-soldier.org/cs13-Bob%20Kerry.html

Last spring, Greg Vistica broke the story about a massacre of some twenty women and children by a Navy SEAL team commanded by former Senator Bob Kerrey that took place over thirty years ago in Vietnam. At the urging of his agent, Vistica has now turned the article, which ran originally in the New York Times Magazine, (April 29, 2001) into a book length work, The Education of Lieutenant Kerrey. Vistica's deeper professional motive for keeping Kerrey in his cross hairs was his desire "to get as close to the truth as possible," closer presumably than in the initial expose.

In the 'zine version, Vistica pits one eyewitness recollection of what took place in the hamlet of Thanh Phong on February 25, 1969 against another: Bob Kerrey alleges that the unarmed civilians were killed from a distance of a hundred yards in the confusion of a fire fight; while his fellow SEAL, Gerhard Klann, is adamant that the victims were rounded up and shot point blank. In his book, Vistica concludes without ambiguity that "Klann's is the most accurate version," and that "Kerrey is not a truth teller

I pray he stay safe and come home soon.

Let him know there are lots of vets rooting for him and that while we're ashamed of this war, we're 100% behind the soldiers who are serving honorably.

Peace
