Falluja peace bid called off
A top Falluja negotiator who has been released from US custody says peace talks with the interim Iraqi government have been called off.

"The people of Falluja have suspended negotiations, despite the fact they had made progress, because of arrests like mine and American policies," Khalid Hamud al-Jumaili said.

Al-Jumaili was released at 2am (2300 GMT) on Monday after his arrest three days ago.

US marines detained him along with Falluja's police chief Sabir al-Janabi and two other police officers while they were taking their families out of the city for safety, on Friday.

9. By escalating, Bush wins either way, if he retains power or not
Edited on Mon Oct-18-04 11:18 AM by lynx rufus
Looks to me like we are intentionally stirring up
trouble. Bush wants a wider war, he is doing all he can
to insure a wider war. If he does not retain power, it will
only be four years of gridlock until the pukes are back in power
and the invasions continue. The pukes might lose this election:
they will not make that mistake again.

11. Your grip on the historical forces at work seems limited to me, Sir.

Both Napoleon and Hitler tried "escalating" against Russia,
and got themselves flattened for their hubris. It is one thing to
pick a fight and another thing entirely to win.

10. Just Imagine
If the guerillas detained Negroponte and 2 aids, then let Negroponte go as a "good will gesture"

4. according to a BBC report
the city is being run by several different klans and that the police are not attacked if they don`t collaborate with the US and Iraqi forces. in fact the police and Falluja fighters are often seen having friendly chats...ya,we are going to win....

8. looks like Bush wants to escalate, at any cost
I hope the Iraqis have the good sense to let the US train
them before they declare 'Jihad' on us.
We definitely owe them that much.
