Senator Wants Justice Review of Snow Investment
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The top Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, Max Baucus, asked the Justice Department on Friday to review Treasury Secretary John Snow's holding of $10 million of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae bonds.

Baucus, who is from Montana, is concerned about a potential conflict of interest as Treasury has been pushing for a stronger oversight role over the government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs), both of which have faced probes over their accounting practices.

"Today, Senator Max Baucus … referred documents provided to the Committee by … Snow's outside counsel to the Department of Justice for review and appropriate action," a statement from Baucus' office said.

The Treasury Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
