'We blindly supported US'
Kampala - Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has said he doubted the United States' strategies in Iraq and that he supported the war that ousted Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein blindly, Ugandan Information Minister Nsaba Buturo said on Wednesday.

"Yes, he (Museveni) said that he did not know much about the reasons given by the Americans to invade Iraq, but he feared that if weapons of mass destruction were in Iraq, they would find their way to Uganda, that is why he was compelled to support the coalition," Buturo said by telephone.

Buturo said Museveni reasoned that Saddam "was a friend to (Sudanese President) Omar el Beshir and if these weapons found their way to Sudan, they would end up with northern Uganda's Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) rebels and this compelled him to support it, though he did not know other reasons the Americans were giving as basis for the intervention."

3. Museveni is a neo-colonial stooge.
He's a puppet serving the interests of creating artificial divisions among the African people. Shame on him for his vile attacks against Democratic Congo.

4. Now sucking up to Mugabe, for some reason.
I do think it's nice they have decided to stop fighting with
each other over chunks of the DRC though.

6. Zimbabwe was on the right side on Congo.
I do not care for Mugabe, a poor excuse of a "socialist" who lives lavishly and reaches for reactionary religion to maintain his power. But at the very least he isn't in the hip pocket of the Western interventionists.

As ugly a war as we've seen of late. It's interesting that
so much attention is paid to Sudan (not that it doesn't deserve it)
and so little paid to the DRC, so little was paid to the Rwanda
Burundi massacres, to Sierra Leone, Liberia. I wonder who decides
which atrocities get press and which do not?
