Terror Suspect Arrested for Buying Guns at Krispy Kreme
The F.B.I. says it has foiled a terrorist plot in Nashville by arresting a man who bought automatic weapons at a local Krispy Kreme donut shop on Thompson Lane.

33-year-old Ahmed Hassan Al-Uqaily was caught Thursday after buying machine guns, handguns, ammunition and hand grenades from an undercover agent.

He told investigators he was angry with the Jewish community, but as far as Channel 4 knows, there was not a specific target.

I think I posted this here earlier this week in the "Krispy Kreme cuts jobs in Ohio" thread.

8. Didn't they mean to say "OUTSIDE of" or "in PARKING LOT of" Krispy Kreme?
Edited on Sun Oct-10-04 06:53 AM by demo@midlife
Sloppy journalistic writing. Makes it sound like they sell weapons over the counter as well donuts. If they're going to use the specific name of the business, then either they should have specified that it was outside the building, or else just say "at a local donut shop".

(Sorry - everyone's comments ARE funny, but Krispy Kreme has always been my favorite donut shop since childhood so maybe I'm just hypersensitive about this!)

On edit: to clarify meaning

9. What do they have, a Gun of the Month or something?
"This month's special is the H&K P7A13. Leave this gun loaded around your kids because you have to apply 15 lbs pressure to the handgrip to cock it, and kids can't squeeze that hard."

10. I live near Nashville- this guy was whacked in the head.
They showed some film on the news of the search at his property. He had a van painted up like a "deadhead" would except it had all kinds of anti-jewish phrases on it- his car had the same paint scheme. He didn't do much to avoid the eyes of the local FBI office. I guess he had mentioned to a friend he would like to "go Jihad" on the local jewish population. His firend contacted the officials and they gave him enough rope to hang himself. If he was a terrorist he sure didn't try to hide it.
By the way, the feds brought the weapoms to the Krispy Creme. It must have been a sweet deal for the cops- they were probably going to the doughnut shop anyways so it got to arrest someone all in one trip.

18. No, he would have been called a white supremist miltia man.
If he was an enviromentalist- he would have been called an eco-terrorist. If he was the leader of a fringe religious group he would be a "cult leader".

What is wrong with calling people what they really are? This guy has mental health issues.

25. He must have confused the local KK with the local KKK...
Edited on Mon Oct-11-04 11:23 AM by JDWalley
I mean, they both started in the Deep South, so what's the difference?

Anyway, the next time I'm near a Krispy Kreme, I'm going to stop in for a couple standard glazed, one chocolate glazed, one raspberry-filled, one cruller, three AK-47s, one bazooka, one rocket-launcher, and a couple of Stingers.

(Note to Herr Ashcroft and Vaterland Security Director Ridge: the preceeding was a joke. I have no intentions of trying to obtain armaments at my local donut store. After all, Starbucks has much better prices. That was a joke, too. They actually don't. Just kidding!)
