Bill Clinton campaigns for Kerry while recovering from heart surgery

"He's doing so well. Every day he gets stronger and he walks further and he feels better," Senator Hillary Clinton (news - web sites) told CNN television.

Bill Clinton had heart by-pass surgery one month ago after being taken suddenly ill.

Hillary Clinton said her husband was already offering advice to the campaign of Democratic presidential contender John Kerry (news - web sites) and talking to voters, but would take doctors' advice on whether to get more active in the campaign.

"He's obviously on the phone, he's offering advice, he's talking to the campaign and to supporters across the country," she said.

27. Not a current photo
That photo ran in the New York Daily News on 9/12, the Sunday after his surgery, only a couple of days after he was released from the hospital! They've since run a few pics of him running errands around Chappaqua, and he still looks good. I can't provide a direct link, but you can search the photo archive on NYDAILYNEWS.COM and find the pictures.

7. I'd love to get that call in Arkansas..
from Prez Clinton! I know he's gonna do important things between now and Nov 2..He doesn't want to stay out of the most important election of our Centuries.

Can you imagine when he gets well how many shows are gonna want him on?

10. Yes, it's obvious that Hillary saying "he will not be involved"...
...was to give him some peace and get the media off their backs. My feeling all along was that as long as he had a breath left in him, he WOULD be in...just as soon as he was physically able to do so.

When he was on "The Daily Show," you could tell that the whole Karl Rove-Karen Hughes-George Bush style of politics felt WRONG to him, and he was disgusted by the lot of them.

Big Dog...IN THE HOUSE!

17. Go Bill!!!
We need you now more than ever!

GAWD I miss the Clinton years. History will bear out that those years were among the best in the last half-century. The last 4 have been among the very worst.

Why isn't Kerry running away with this thing?

I read some of Moore's latest book, "Will They Ever Trust Us Again?" in the Best Buy today, and I had to put it down--it was just too upsetting. I almost grabbed the cashier by the lapels as I checked out to say "Go read 5 pages of that book over there, and then come back over here and tell me you're going to vote for John Kerry!!!!!"

GAWD we need to win this fugging election.

Wouldn't we make a giant leap forward if Kerry named the Big Dawg Ambassador to the UN or Sec'y of State?

21. Bill is looking
great and the first concern is his health. The African American community loves him dearly and greatly! That would be a great place for him to focus on GOTV.

We love you. I want to see you there, dancing with Hilary, and Theresa and Elizabeth, looking the stud in your tux, with a big ol' smile. I can see it now. ;) We miss you.

28. Easy does it, Big Dawg
I'll paraphrase what I said in a get-well card that I sent him shortly after his surgery: "America needs Bill Clinton to be healthy again, to be there for the effort to make our country healthy again."

But rushing his recovery isn't going to help him, or America, even one bit. I'd much rather see him sit this election out entirely than see him jeopardize his health further - as much as we need him now, we need him in the long run even more.
