Dems Attacked on Some Black Radio Stations (by Americas PAC)
WASHINGTON -- One commercial claims Democrats support "abortion laws that are decimating our people," while another argues that Democrats "preach tolerance but practice discrimination."

Operating largely under the radar, Americas PAC, a little-known conservative group based in Overland Park, Kan., has been airing ads excoriating Democrats on black radio stations in five states this month. The spots have drawn the ire of Democrats who claim the commercials are designed to keep a crucial voting bloc for the party at home on Nov. 2.

Americas PAC says its ads -- on issues from taxes to school choice to the economy -- are designed to encourage blacks to go to the polls in support of President Bush and Republicans. The group denies that it's attempting to suppress the black vote to help Bush, as Democrats contend.

"That claim is attached to anything Republicans do in an attempt to mobilize blacks for Republicans," Richard Nadler, the head of the group, said Tuesday. "It's not true."

1. I've heard these ads a lot...
They are played on the 99 Jamz Hip Hop Station. They also have one about how Collin Powell and Condi Rice are proud black republicans and such.

They get annoying, and actually are kinda of lengthly in time. I've heard all the ads mentioned in that article. Don't know how much effect it will have on getting black votes though.

2. Uh huh. Too bad they treat any people like they're STUPID!!!
They are pissing people off by assuming everyone is vulnerable to their bullshitzka,...which is a good thing in terms of BASHING AND BEATING BUSH.

Let them carry - on.

3. I heard an ad aimed at African American Bush supporters here....
on WHAT (1340AM) in Philly. WHAT is very much an African American "community" talk radio station that just started playing limited Air America, ie., Al FRanken and Randi Rhodes from noon to 6 PM every day a couple months ago. I was driving, and it took a moment for the commercial to sink in...it was very low key, nice female v.o. saying she was a proud mother of two sons...supported Bush for school choice, etc. In another circumstance, say, a traffic snarl or some other distracting event, the meaning of the commercial might have sailed right over my head. (They aired it in the middle of the Franken show.)
I'm not an African American, so I hope I'm not speaking out of turn here, but it seemed to me that the commercial was so carefully soft-pedaled that it may be entirely ineffective. I can't imagine it changing anybody's mind.

4. Don't Worry
I'm African-American.

I've lived in San Francisco, L.A., D.C. Boston and North Carolina. Black people aren't going to fall for it. We have the most to lose if * is re-elected. There's unprecedented excitement in the community to kick Bush out, period!

5. Bwahahaha! As an African-American, if I heard these ads I would LOL....
Abortion laws "decimating our people"? No, dumb asses. That's exactly what anti-abortion legislation is designed to do.

Democrats "preach tolerance but practice discrimination"? What a freaking joke. Republicans preach intolerance and their whole platform is built on upholding a culture of institutionalized racism and bigotry. They invented the whole freaking concept.

So let them waste their money on ads like this because if anything it will encourage blacks to go to the polls in support of Kerry and the Democrats. Chimpboy and the Repuglicans aren't fooling anyone but themselves.

7. Yup. Those "right-wingers" are still living in the days when people,...
,...could be bought and sold. They may NOT GET IT,...operating in the complete state of denial needed to feed their power-mongering,...but, the rest of us sure as hell get the f-upped game they are playing.

Like I said,..."they" are just pissing "the people" off with their con-man tricks.

Let them,...carry - on.

8. I said it before . . .
. . many blacks can be swayed to vote Republican because they are (psychologically) conservative.

That's just like the Log Cabin Repukes - who also are baffling to liberals.

Many people born into a world that is chaotic and dangerous and where the cards are stacked against them (like most racial and sexual minorities) will find a "strong father" worldview more appealing than a "nurturing mother" worldview.

Those people (like Powell, Rice, Thomas, Keyes, JC Watts) are conservative at heart. All it takes is someone as smart as Rove or Luntz to realize this and start harvesting those easy hanging votes.

Liberals went to war forty years ago to get equality for minorities. Now that many of those minorities are doing pretty well financially, they are ready to protect those who "work hard to get ahead" and screw the rest.

The Dems need to understand this and work to solve this problem. DNC, are you listening?

10. I've heard ads like this on one of Tampa's 2 hip hop/R&B stations...
but never listened to it closely enough to hear who's putting it out. The woman in the ad begins by saying that Democrats take the Black vote for granted and while she doesn't agree with everything crackhead has done, he speaks to her "values" on issues. Although, I hear more ads from the DNC and Soros' PAC on this station than this particular ad. I will have to listen closer the next time the ad airs to hear who's putting it out.

12. How many points can we afford to lose from the Black vote?
Would a 10% loss doom us to another four years?
