>>JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Ten-year-old Amber Easterbrook says she has three main goals in life: going to heaven, taking a trip to Hawaii and meeting President Bush.

>>Amber, of Richland Township, wasn't able to go with her mother, Sherri Easterbrook, to Bush's rally in neighboring Johnstown on Sept. 9. So she gave her mother a note she wrote for Bush, which her mom was able to press into Bush's hand as he greeted supporters

>>``Amber wrote that she was a fourth-grader at Johnstown Christian School and that she would pray that Mr. Bush would be re-elected,'' Easterbrook said.<<

omg, here comes the Bush Jugend, singing "Tomorrow belongs to me"

12. Let's hope that, in 2005, she wants to meet President Kerry
(unlikely).

My opinion is, Hawaii is close enough to Heaven on Earth. There are beautiful sections on all the islands, if you get away from the cities.

Remind her that she should hope to get to Heaven after a very long time.

BTW, was the letter in the original crayon? Bush's, not hers.

23. Y'know what ... someday Amber will go to college. It may not be
a Christian college.

The first week she will hear someone swearing. The second week, her dorm R.A. will offer her a beer. The third week, she'll go to a frat party. The fourth week, someone will offer her a joint. The fifth week, she'll decide Campus Crusade is a little "out there."

And the sixth week, Amber will be smacking herself in the head, saying "OH MY GOD how could I have written that note to George Bush?"

I went through a Jesus-freak phase in high school. For the fortunate among us, it all comes out in the wash when you move on to the next phase.

27. Here's a song for you, Amber.
I love this song by Arrested Development ... how some churches just tell you to pray about everything, and tell you you'll get your reward in the afterlife, so don't bother doing anything about the world's problems while you're here. Listen and learn, Amber.

Fishin' 4 Religion, by Arrested Development

Grab the hook, grab the line
Grab the bait, grab the box and wait
Tackle and shackle the topic the faculty has chosen
Chosen by many, chosen by plenty, chosen by any
man or woman who understand
the topic that's known and
flock and clock the topic
as I drop my hook and get a bite
The reason I'm fishin' 4 a new religion
is my church makes me fall asleep
They're praising a God that watches you weep
and doesn't want you to do a damn thing about it
When they want change the preacher says "shout it"
Does shouting bring about change ? I doubt it

All shouting does is make you lose your voice
So on the dock I sit in silence
staring at a sea that's full of violence
Scared to put my line in that water
coz it seems like there's no religion in there
Naively so I give it another go
Sitting in church hearing legitimate woes
Pastor tells the lady it'll be alright
Just pray so you can see the pearly gates so white
The lady prays and prays and prays and prays
and prays and prays and prays and prays...it's everlasting
"There's nothing wrong with praying ?" It's what she's asking
She's asking the Lord to let her cope
so one day she can see the golden ropes
What you pray for God will give
to be able to cope in this world we live
The word "cope" and the word "change"
is directly opposite, not the same
She should have been praying to change her woes
but pastor said "Pray to cope with those"
The government is happy with most baptist churches
coz they don't do a damn thing to try to nurture
brothers and sisters on a revolution
Baptist teaches dying is the only solution
Passiveness causes others to pass us by

I throw my line till I've made my decision
until then, I'm still fishin' 4 religion

32. THE PANDERING!!
If there IS a God, (and having people like Bush in power makes me wonder), then he's not being nice right now OR we pissed him off so much that Bush is our punishment. I HATE shit like this... "I'm PRAYING that Bush gets re-elected". Really? Can Mommy and Daddy explain to you WHY Jesus would approve of the thousands of 10 year olds that Bush ordered killed when he lied his way into the Iraq war? Can your pastor explain WHY Jesus would be okay with rich men stealing all the money from the poor and the little children, and WHY it's okay for MORE children to live in poverty now that Bush has given our surplus away to his corporate friends and donors? Or ask yourself this question? WWJE????

(who would Jesus exploit?)

44. If this story is even real
as a mother, if you kids WANTS to see the president and YOU had the chance to see them, then why wasn't the kid there? Really.
As a parent we try to make things happen for our kid and if this was one of her wishes then why wasn't she there with her mother?

Which is why, as a parent, I can say that parent is a crock of shit OR this story is.

A mother who had her little girl meet or see all her idols. It's what WE do.

I guess if this is "news" it's bad news. I still see that soldier's mom being hauled off in handcuffs for daring to question during Laura's speech. All that woman got was a "no comment" from the Whitehouse. What cold hearted ghouls, both bush and his Stepford wife are.

and it set me off as well. The "First Lady", which I guess in her case can only be a term used loosely, should have seen to it that Niederer was not arrested. Given the circumstances she should have personally intervened and at least had a word to say in sympathy for Niederer during her spewing testament to her fearless husband. Scumbag wife of a giggling, murdering neocon. What else can you expect?

That Olypmic ice skater who just happened to end up standing next to Georgie and just happened pull out a cell phone, call her mother, and hand it to him without alerting the Secret Service? A heartwarming story, until it turned out that she's just signed on as a spokesperson for a Texan beef lobby, to whom Bush just happened to have make a speech to earlier that day!
