US, Iraq press wary nations for help
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20040914/pl_afp/un_iraq_us&cid=1521&ncid=1473

UNITED NATIONS (AFP) - The United States and Iraq (news - web sites) both pressed wary nations to contribute more to stabilising Iraq and helping the country get past the latest surge of deadly attacks by insurgents.

Just hours after more Iraq violence killed at least 73 people, the two allies told the UN Security Council that the United Nations (news - web sites) needed to boost its presence to prepare for Iraq's first post-Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) elections.

"The number of UN workers now in Iraq is inadequate," Feisal al-Istrabadi, Iraq's charge d'affaires at the United Nations, told an open meeting of the council. "It must increase that number."

The United Nations has committed to assisting with the elections, due to be held no later than the end of January, but has been hampered by the dangerous situation on the ground.

1. No One is Going
to help bushie. It is his mess regardless if he "turned sovereignty over" to Iraq or not. I feel sorry for the Iraqi people who are caught in the middle here but there will be not action as long as bushie is in control in this country.

4. I particularly like
this line, "the two allies told the UN Security Council that the United Nations...."
I read it, and wondered which nation was speaking up for us.
Oh, they are referring to Iraqi Mess as a nation. my bad.

5. "IRRELEVANT".
That's what bushCartel & their jackbooted goose-stepping idiot rightwingnut warmongering incredibly stupid brownshirts chanted when the UN and the world said not no but HELL NO to bush's invasion shit.

Now the world and the UN are relevant again because, as everything bush has ever touched becomes, Iraq has become one huge and total FUBAR?

Is that a BUSH FLIP-FLOP?!! Now we can't have THAT, can we!

So, sorry but no can do, bushie; you said the UN and the world are IRRELEVANT. And we all know, "bush means what he says".

6. "We are waiting to see who wins the US election"
"Since the bush* administration has proven to be less than honest with the UN in dealing with Iraq."

I would love to hear that as the offcial UN response to this request.
