BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Insurgents fired on a U.S. patrol with machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades Monday, killing an American soldier, the military said.

The soldier, who was serving with the Army's 1st Infantry Division, was killed near Sharqat, 168 miles north of Baghdad, a military statement said.

The name of the soldier was withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

Another life wasted, for Bush's Blunder.

2. How Many Deaths Will It Take?
How many deaths will it take to stop this war? I'm sorry. I cannot live in a culture that is numb to thousands of people dying in a war that was not necessary.
