Nader: Social Ills Deadlier Than Terror

Associated Press Writer

PHILADELPHIA -- Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader told supporters Saturday that a far larger number of Americans die each year from poverty, hunger, pollution, dangerous jobs or poor access to high-quality health care than terrorism.

"Who weeps for these people?" Nader asked before remarking that it would take a press release from al-Qaida to get Democrats and Republicans to pay attention to the nation's social ills.

Nader met with about 175 supporters in a Philadelphia church as many Americans observed the third anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Despite those attacks, Nader said, the United States has "no major enemy" in the world to fight and called on the major political parties to "end the politics of fear."

I'm simply amazed that Nader could find 175 rubes in greater Philly willing to partake of his purple Kool-aid...

3. I have to say that i do agree with this particular message...
although not the messenger.

There are much bigger worries that millions of Americans face daily compared to terrorism.

It's too bad that Nader is such a bag of shit that he refuses to endorse a presidential candidate who might attempt to actually fix some of those problems....

7. Just about everybody I know agrees with Ralph about these issues ...
... but none of us are going to vote for him -- because the point of a Presidential election is to WIN.

4. Hmmm
I've been following this election pretty closely and it seems to me that Kerry has a lot of ideas and plans to address these problems. Ralph Nader is looking to me like more and more of an idiot every day. I used to really respect him but he seems bent on giving us Bush for another four years simply because he's mad at the Dems.
Thanks for helping George Bush, Ralph. Thanks for working to destroy the rare semblence of unity the left has managed to muster. I'll think about you and all you have contributed to our cause for the next four years while I watch W destroy the environment, worker's rights, consumer protections, and international relationships and possibly start World War III.

6. Ah, yes ... today's two-minute (Nader) hate
It's amusing how much attention DU gives this man, then immediately bitches about his presence on the political scene.

That reminds me, where's the latest "freepers are idiots" thread?

8. Okay DemsUnite
What are you offering? I and my disabled daughter are those people Ralph is "weeping for" but I do not see how he is going to help our situation any. I would rather vote for someone who could offer me reality even if he fails at changing the situation than someone who cannot win but cries for me and offers me sure destruction. I do not hate Ralph Nader - I fear him.
