Some lawmakers question 9/11 resolution

WASHINGTON -- Mention of the war in Iraq clouded a House resolution marking the third anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks, and 16 lawmakers voted Thursday against the otherwise non-controversial measure.

Rep. Maurice Hinchey, D-N.Y., one of 15 Democrats and one Republican to cast no votes, said linking the 9/11 act of terrorism to the war in Iraq was "blatantly untrue" and had turned a resolution honoring the sacrifices of 9/11 victims into a political document.

"Why are we putting together a resolution that convolutes the issue?" asked Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., another no vote. The vote was 406-16.

The sponsor of the resolution, International Relations Committee Chairman Henry Hyde, R-Ill., responded to the critics, saying "there is a direct connection between the war in Iraq and the bombing of Sept. 11."

2. Henry (Jekyll) Hyde, the adulterous, two-timing, lard ass....
...introduces language like that to blackmail weak-kneed democrats into legitimizing George Bush's Big Lie about why we went to Iraq and allowed the murder of tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis, is the most transparent mis-use of legislative authority I have ever witnessed!

Executive Intelligence Review.
Hyde-Bound Racism and the Constitution
by Lyndon H. LaRouche, Jr.
January 6, 2000

Whether or not the evidence claiming Rep. Henry Hyde's (R-Ill.) long record of alleged adultery, proves true, or not, that same Henry Hyde is to be fairly described as "an immoral bastard" in much larger matters, including the matter of law as such.

Our nation has come into an immoral, concupiscent time, when the Nero-like editorial policy of Playboy's Hugh Hefner and the debate over the morality, or immorality, of degenerates such as Newt Gingrich, Henry Hyde, and Al Gore, does not reach beyond the province of the bedroom. In wider areas, beyond those domains of relatively petty, proven or merely alleged bedroom offenses, all sorts of major offenses, by even the same self-righteous perpetrators, against both man and God, were tolerated by Hyde, and that with a great show of cheerful indifference. The same spirit has been shown, even among putative leaders of the Democratic National Committee, by racist creatures of sundry patronages. One would suspect, from popular toleration for Representative Hyde's antics against President William J. Clinton, that a wild-eyed lynch-mob of rabid pornographers had taken over the nation.

The republican party has slid under the belly of the mud wollow-pig if it has allowed the likes of Hyde, DeLay and others to abuse the legislative process in this way. Expose these bastards for what they are!

6. Yes. And these aren't sheeple. This is the congress.

They are supposed to know better.

As each day goes by I find myself more and more feeling estranged from the democratic party. Not the grassroots of the party, but the national party organization. The people who party with the CEOs to beg for money for reelection. They seem to have lost the connection with the people who voted for them.

I'm very much afraid that Nader was right about there being only one party. It's the Corporate Party and it now owns the nation.

9. They DO know better -- they just don't have the spine to DO better
not in an election year. This is the kind of resolution that can be demagogued and mischaracterized (aka: used against them) back in their districts. I am SICK of the spinelessness.

What they should all do instead: band together, march out, hold an angry press conference and expose the Repug scum for what they are: thugs, bullies and liars.

5. What bombing?
".. there is a direct connection between the war in Iraq and the bombing of Sept. 11."

Have I missed something, or wasn't the 9/11 attacks "just" hijacked airliners that we crashed into the WTC 1 & 2, the Pentagon & a field in PA.?

Anyone else think this is going to increase the number of absurd 9/11 theories? I'm willing to go as far as LIHOP with a touch of MIHOP, but all this nonsense about the airliners being rigged with missiles etc. will only undermine the effort to prove LIHOP.

11. What the fuck is wrong with these "Democrats".....
I'm talking about the ones that voted for the resolution.

If you read the language as displayed in the article, it is fraudulent. The War in Iraq is Bush's/PNAC's pet project and is a distraction from fighting the terrorists that attacked us on frickin' Sept. 11th.

With the support of the Patriot Act, the IWR, and more shit like this, I have to say "way to go, Assholes".

I'm pretty fucking moderate, but watching Democrats taking dick up the ass from Republicans in the House and Senate is getting pretty pathetic. I say, if something is bi-partisan...then be bi-partisan about it. However, if something amounts to cheerleading for the worst policies of the worst President in recent history, then I can't stomach it.

The Dems should have demanded a change in the language at the very least.

When will "our party" get some nuts?

true Dems. Barbar Lee is one of them. Right now, I can only think of Charlie Rangel as another. Are there others?

17. Unanswered Questions They have failed you...
KRISTEN BREITWEISER: http://www.pbs.org/now/politics/911widows.html
There's always this level of anxiety because
nothing is finite. Nothing is finished.
Nothing is complete. Nothing is solid.

Unusual stock trades are actively monitored, in real
time, via highly advanced computer software
programs, by U.S. and foreign Intelligence Services,
including the FBI, CIA, and Justice Department. In
this instance, we are supposed to believe that this
activity went unnoticed.

For reasons that the Bush administration refuses to
explain, the Security and Exchange Commission, the
FBI, and the CIA, have been unable to determine who
purchased these options.

It has been suggested that Deutschebank-Alex Brown,
where many of these options were purchased, is either
being uncooperative or it lost or misplaced any records
that would shed light on the purchaser's
identity--which is a brazen absurdity, and which raises
questions about Deutschebank-Alex Brown.

According to articles in the German news weekly Der
Spiegel (51), the Asian Wall Street Journal (52), and
Britain1s The Guardian (53), the bin Laden family
maintains a least 10 different accounts with
Deutschebank, with a value of over $100 million
dollars. Funds from some of these 10 accounts, German
authorities suspect, have funded the terrorist activities
of bin Laden's al-Qaeda.

The Deutschebank is also in business with the CIA.
One month before 9/11, the Financial Times of Asia,
Wire-Business Line (54), carried an article which
directly linked Deutschebank to the CIA, as well as to
unnamed individuals in Afghanistan.

However, news searches indicate that no member of Congress has publicly
questioned whether wealthy terrorist-connected Saudi nationals participated in
the private client operations of Deutschebank-Alex Brown. Osama bin Laden and
almost all of the alleged 9-11 hijackers are of Saudi nationality. Also, no member
of Congress expressed public interest in asking Krongard about whether or not
the CIA affected "real-time" pre-attack trade monitoring using PROMIS software
at any location.
