MAHMUDIYA, Iraq, Sept 5 (AFP)

An Iraqi nuclear scientist has been assassinated in the Sunni Muslim insurgent bastion of Mahmudiya, south of Baghdad, his brother told AFP Sunday.

Mohammed Toki Hussein al-Talakani, who had practised nuclear physics since 1984, was shot dead on Saturday as he was driving in Mahmudiya, Alaa Toki Hussein said. ..

Another man was killed in the town on Sunday during clashes between insurgents and Iraqi forces, while a woman was also wounded, the head of the local hospital said.

A country that practices assassination as a core feature of their foreign policy/military strategy. The Israelis promoted the US invasion of Iraq for the same reasons they would like to take advantage of the chaos in Iraq to short-circuit any potential future threats from Arab/Islamic WMDs. Assassinating Iraqi nuclear scientists meets Israel's goals of maintaining military dominance over all Middle East countries and is similar to their bombing of the Iraqi Osirak reactor in 1983.
