Sadr 'agrees Najaf peace terms'
The story in the Guardian says the peace terms were accepted, yet at the top of the web page it says "Najaf Peace Terms Rejected".

http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,1285590,00.html

In the words of a '60's tune "Somethings happening here, what it is ain't exactly clear"

Delegate: Al-Sadr Agrees to Withdraw

By ABDUL HUSSEIN AL-OBEIDI, Associated Press Writer

NAJAF, Iraq - Radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr accepted a peace plan Wednesday to end the fighting in Najaf that would disarm his militia and remove them from a holy shrine where they are based, according to a letter read by a delegate at the Iraqi National Conference.

3. The top of the web site's the old info
and the accepting was the new update.

But let's wait for more time. After all, Allawi wanted Sadr out of there in one piece, and his militia out in pieces.

4. I doubt if they will disarm
If they do, they doubtless have plenty of other weapons caches.

This sounds like a face saving compromise. The U.S./Allawi puppet regime gets out of having to either attack or withdraw, and Sadr gets to disperse his forces back into the population, ensuring that they live to fight another day.

I think it is political victory for Sadr, or will be seen that way in Iraq. He has stood up to the Americans and survived, which is the main objective of resistance forces. Time is on their side.
