Iowan injured in Baghdad bombing dies

A former Iowan working at the United Nation's Baghdad headquarters has died from injuries sustained in Tuesday's bombing, her mother said.

Martha Teas Meiklejohn, 47, who grew up in Mason City, was at her office in the U.N. headquarters, working with UNICEF and the World Food Program, when the bomb exploded, her family said.

‘‘Her husband called us and he was not able to give us too much information except that she has been declared dead,’’ Dorothy Teas said. ‘‘They are shipping her body home.’’

Teas Meiklejohn was a consultant with the World Food Program. She helped distribute food to refugees, her mother said.
