Fires may keep Bush out of Central Oregon
Subtitle: Investigators believe the fires may have been set intentionally to disrupt the president's visit.

This from ultra-right wing Portland radio station KXL:

http://kxl.com/ardisplay.asp?SecID=22&ID=38736

<snip>
"Will two fast-moving wildfires keep President Bush from visiting Central Oregon? The White
House said it's too soon to say whether the fires near Bend will keep the president from giving his
speech on forest thinning at Camp Sherman Thursday."

<snip>
"Lightning has been ruled-out as a cause of the fires. There hasn't been lightning in the area for 10
days, fueling speculation that the fires may be related to the President's visit."

2. Point is, the radical right will blame us
We're just a bunch of loony enviro-wackos, ya know, for not welcoming Bush to Or-ee-gone, and that we all hate Bush so much that our hatred for him leads to arson.

AFAIK, there is NO data to back up this assertion at all.

3. Ha! Bush's own people probably set the fires so he'd have an excuse

not to go. From what I've been hearing it wouldn't be a pleasant reception or the kind of photo-op that makes for good campaign material.

I also think it's a pattern with Bushco to "create" the problem event that proves whatever point they wish to make in support of their policies. And they are more than happy to hand pick their "experts" too.

10. Bush is SUCH a WUSSY!! Hes totaly YELLOW!!!!!!
I mean really. From running from serving to running from people in need in NYC on 9/11..( heck clinton was there first talking to the familys instead of Bush a week later talking tough thru a bullhorn with things we now know as outright lies ).Any sign of danger the guy runs and hides like a scardy cat.. Can you imagine if this guy ever had to lead troops on the battlefield?? I almost glad he ducked going to the service beacuse his cowardice could have gotten more troops killed by runing and hiding instead of leading...

Edited on Wed Aug-20-03 07:18 PM by Stevie D
Bush not going to Camp Sherman due to fires.

KATU, Portland's ABC affiliate, has just reported that Bush will not appear at the previously announced site, the venue will be the Deschutes County fairgrounds in Redmond. Still looking for a link.
