McGuinty warns of another blackout - (US will be to blame)
Sub-standard operations of FirstEnergy Corp., a utility based in Akron, Ohio, were blamed for the blackout that shut down the province a year ago.

The biggest problem is the lack of the ability for them in the U.S. to pass legislation to provide mandatory compliance and sanctions.

“There is real reason for worry. In the U.S., they've not been successful in upgrading the legal structure for reliability enforcement.”

In the wake of the blackout that hit the Eastern Seaboard of the United States, President George W. Bush promised tough legislation to ensure local U.S. power companies live up to the standards set by the industry to ensure safety and reliability. But the legislation was caught up by special interests in Congress.

The last thing we needed was another round with the NDP

7. THe NDP was a far better choice. They did not resort to
blatant lies upon lies. They unlike the iberals spoke the truth about electrical rates hikes. What did McGuinty do? Lie through his teeth. The NDP spoke the truth about the size of the deficit. What did McGuinty do? Lie through his teeth. One can go all the way down the Fiberals promises and each a patent lie. Next election a NDP landslide.

10. The NDP
spent us to oblivion, and repaired nothing.

For their entire term.

When McGuinty got in, he also found a 6 billion dollar extra debt that 'hadn't been counted' by Harris and the crew.

The NDP will never be elected in Ontario again.

8. If they're anything like the BC Lieberals
Fasten your seatbelts, you're in for a rocky ride. Anything not nailed down will be privatized to foreign corporations on 90 year leases. Hopefully we will have something left of the province before we get dispose of them next May. Everyone is very nostalgic for the NDP here.

11. No, the BC Liberals
are just the old Socreds in disguise.

BC needs a new party.

4. Let free market forces chart the course
When the whole eastern seaboard has gone dark for a couple of months, entrepreneurs will swoop in to fill the void to offer customers electrical service. Private contractors will build new power plants, install new generators, etc., and before you know it--in a triumphant affirmation of the teachings of Adam Smith, Milton Friedman, and Ronald Reagan--electrons will zizz throughout the land and all will be well again.

Of course, predatory trial lawyers, ever eager to assist whiny Americans who refuse to accept personal responsibility for their problems, will have a field day filing crippling lawsuits against the beleaguered power companies.

Fortunately, the power companies will be headquartered in Bermuda and Barbados where they can't be sued by American plebeians. And there won't be any government regulations anyway, so free markets can flourish without the interfering hand of big government.

5. Yes, we had
8 years of neocon philosophy after that as well in the Harris conservatives.

We are now attempting to clean up the mess left by both left and right wings, and their wild ideologies.
