Democrat Rep. Lipinski of Illinois to Retire -Report

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Eleven-term U.S. Rep. William Lipinski, a conservative Democrat who has sided with Republicans on taxes and other issues, will announce his retirement on Friday, the Chicago Tribune reported.

A spokesman for the 66-year-old Lipinski, who has represented a South Side Chicago district since 1983, said the congressman would make an announcement about his "career" on Friday. His 3rd congressional district is considered solidly Democratic.

EDIT: After seeing the replies, I probably ought to note that it looks like his son is going to replace him, so if you were expecting any great liberal change in representation.... :shrug:
