Davis to acknowledge faults, slam GOP
In speech Tuesday, embattled governor to promise a fight

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- In his first major speech addressing the effort to recall him from office, California Gov. Gray Davis on Tuesday will acknowledge his personal shortcomings and his role in the state's budget mess, while saying Republicans are bent on circumventing elections they can't win, according to campaign sources familiar with the speech.

1. Hope it does the trick for him.
I kinda doubt it though. Davis hasn't been the best public speaker in the past. On the other hand, he is a brilliant campaigner. I'll try and watch the speech tonight.

what happens when the kind of guy Chris Matthews wants to have a beer with gets into office.

edit- Which just means that it's more important to check out who's taking whom to court and winning. (Davis beat the energy companies, Bush is suing Davis/CA over innovative new auto efficiency legislation- KEY to the country's future)

3. With such a high profile race, anything he says to fight the Bush machine
is most welcome...he can help the country as well as himself and California!!

do better than one might think.

Remember, Al Gore's "populist" acceptance speech was totally destroyed by the talking heads and the DLC, but Gore's polls spiked despite what the corporatist talking heads told folks to think.

5. Frankly.....
I think he said it best in an interview on the recall a few months back...he plainly said this recall was being mounted by a bunch of "sore losers". LOL
