Beach the boat, Kerry ordered, and the craft's bow was quickly rammed upon the shoreline. Out of the bush appeared a teenager in a loin cloth, clutching a grenade launcher.

An enemy was just feet away, holding a weapon with enough firepower to blow up the boat. Kerry's forward gunner, Belodeau, shot and clipped the Viet Cong in the leg. Then Belodeau's gun jammed, according to other crewmates (Belodeau died in 1997). Medeiros tried to fire at the Viet Cong, but he couldn't get a shot off.

I just e-mailed McCain asking him and other Republican Leaders will speak out against these attacks. This is just as bad or worse than Wille Horton I believe. Now they are going for personal attacks against Kerry since everything else wasn't working. I will never serve in the military, I never liked the military, but I will never dispute a man's service even if I don't agree with him or her. This is exactly the reason why people in general don't like people in the military. They are usually ignorant, very agressive, and have no sense of reality. Some even say that My Lai never occured!?? Now these same "veterans" are accusing Kerry of doing the same thing that they denied doing during the war. Flip-flop anyone? As soon as I get my Ph.D. I am going to drive the media crazy because they aren't ready for me and I will expose everyone in the business. Let's e-mail McCain and other media outlets and demand that they discredit these accusations.

Some veterans who served with democratic candidate John Kerry on swift boats in Vietnam claim he lied to get his medals.

"When I saw that, my blood pressure went up," Retired Sgt. 1st Class Albert Lewis said. "I told my wife, these guys, I bet you, if they were in Vietnam, they were in hotels back in Saigon, eating steak and eggs for breakfast."

Lewis fought for a year in the Vietnam war. He says the 60 second anti-Kerry ad is only political and veterans shouldn't speak out against one of their own.
