BOSTON (Reuters) - Former Vice President Al Gore gave thanks to Bill Clinton in an address to the Democratic National Convention on Monday, a move many wished he made four years ago.
"That's the man who asked me to join him on the ticket at our convention 12 years ago, my friend -- and my partner for eight years -- President Bill Clinton," Gore said in a speech on the convention's opening night.

His tribute to Clinton and their campaign, when he said they traveled the nation "believing with our whole hearts that America could be made new again," drew loud applause from the assembled delegates in Boston.

"You win some, you lose some. And then there's that little-known third category," Gore joked.
