Bush to Take Break During Dem. Convention
WASHINGTON - President Bush plans to lie low during next week's Democratic National Convention, but his re-election campaign will send a "thorn-in-their-side" contingent to react to Bush-bashing, and Vice President Dick Cheney will keep up the attacks on John Kerry during a West Coast swing.

The last two presidents seeking re-election quietly decamped to Jackson, Wyo., during the opposing party's nominating convention, and Bush will likewise keep a low profile when the Democrats gather in Boston. Bush plans to spend July 23-29 at his Crawford, Texas, ranch catching his breath before the campaign's home stretch, aides say.

He and his wife, Laura, will be out of the limelight during the Democratic National Convention, July 26-29, taking a rare break from their heavy re-election travel in recent weeks.

Bush's campaign, however, will send about a dozen people to Boston to rapidly respond to Democratic critics - a "thorn-in-their-side" delegation, as one Bush adviser put it.

1. yeah, that's "laying low"
sending out the goon squad in your name

come to think of it that's SOP for this crew isn't it

What wasn't mentioned in the snippet was that Cheney will be totally on the campaign trail in the west with several appearances and fundraisers scheduled

19. so sorry
just found your post.

Yep...went to son's college graduation in Portland Oregon. Same day Kerry and Dean appeared in park next to hotel. We all went...and the pathetic people holding anti Kerry signs were the same folk I saw sleeping in park that morning.

2. there's NOTHING bush or cheney can do to make anything any better for
their failing campaign and failed policies and dropping numbers. they're on a one-way road to nowhere... at the brink of the abyss, desperately clawing their way down the slippery slope. buh-bye, bushco! buh-bye!

5. Hmm...
... when the country is in the worst mess it's been in decades, Bush takes August off each year. When it's election year and campaigning to be done, he'll be "taking a rare break from {his} heavy re-election travel in recent weeks."

This is all the guy knows how to do--shake hands, ask for money, and tell lies.

This doddering loafabout decides to take weeks off at a time.

Sure hope the PDBs are more specific this time around...not that this simpleton would be able to decipher the crayoned pictograms on 'em.

22. This has me wondering
3 more months and win or lose, he can take all the time he wants. Why do it now? Have you looked at him when he speaks lately. he is wound up, his words are all over the place. he stumbles over them. he is repetitive. I am wondering if he doesn't just need a vacation but NEEDS a vacation.
