Chirac: Israeli prime minister not welcome in Paris
I've never been so proud to be of French descent!

http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/europe/07/19/france.sharo...

PARIS, France (CNN) -- French President Jacques Chirac said Monday that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is not welcome in Paris until he explains his appeal to French Jews to leave the country, a presidential spokeswoman said.

"A visit by the Israeli prime minister won't be looked at closely until the requested explanation is provided," the spokeswoman said.

Sharon said last weekend that French Jews should consider immigrating to Israel because of the rise in anti-Semitic incidents in France.

1. Listen, I can't stand that fat bastard
Sharon, but inviting Jews to live in Isreal isn't a terrible thing to say. There really is anti-semitism in France. Why any Jew would want to live in Isreal is another topic.

You're correct, inviting Jews to live in Isreal isn't a terrible thing to say. If that's all he'd done, I can't imagine if there would have been a peep about it in the press.

3. If Israel is a better choice, then why does Sharon need to recruit?
Since France is part of the EU can't French citizens now move to and work in any EU country they choose?

I can think of lot better/ safer places in Europe to live than Israel.

I'm not sure of the exact demographics but I recall figures that show the Palestinian population becoming a majority in the coming decades.

Are these new immigrants being recruited to live in illegal
settlements in the occupied territories?

4. There is A Decline In Jews Migrating to Israel
while the Palestinians are growing at a faster rate vs Jews moving in. Sharon is encouraging Jews from all over to move to Israel
