Howard Dean was robbed! [pick-pocketed @ JFK]
on his layover in the American Airlines terminal at JFK, he was told that bad weather would keep him from arriving on time at the Women's National Democratic Club.

There, on Wednesday night, some 350 Dean fans - who gave thousands of dollars to Dean's Democracy for America organization - were waiting eagerly to hear his remarks.

But thunderheads had gathered along the route to D.C. and Dean's flight couldn't take off. So a speaker-phone was set up at the fund-raiser, and Dean went to a pay phone, retrieved a calling card from his wallet, and dialed into the event while resting his wallet on top of the phone.

As he was delivering an impassioned pep talk about impending Democratic victory, Dean saw some disembodied fingers suddenly slip around his wallet - containing all his credit cards and an undetermined amount of cash - and just as suddenly disappear with them.

"I gotta go. Somebody just stole my wallet," Dean abruptly ended his speech.

4. You left out the next (best) part:
But instead of saying "YEEEEAAAARRRRGH!" Dean calmly filed a police report and - using his passport in his briefcase as identification - eventually made his way back to Burlington.

Where everybody knows his name.

LOL!

7. I'm sure the DLC and the Republicans are laughing
along with you.

All they have to do is endlessly loop the footage of Kerry patting the guy's butt as he climbed aboard the plane.

Then laugh all you want.

I feel bad for Dean, but you have to admit having your wallet stolen while giving a speech is one of the funniest things you can hear in politics.

"I gotta go, somebody just stole my wallet."

LOL

9. Jeez, don't people realize
that you should never leave your stuff laying around, especially in NYC. Why do you think all the female natives sit on the trains clutching their pocketbooks. I was taught at a very young age, never, ever leave your pocketbook or wallet not attached to your person.

It drives me nuts to see people leaving their purses and valuables, in the seat of their shopping carts in the grocery store. I want to take their stuff, just to teach them a lesson. More than a few times in line, I've tried to explain to people that doing that is not a good idea.

Oh well, I hope Dean won't be making that mistake again.

10. Even in my supposedly "safe" neighborhood, where I lived before..
.. I mentioned the purse in the shopping cart thing to women in the grocery store. They've all been very appreciative when I point that out... except for this one bitch. I was totally polite, told her that there have been some thefts in the stores lately, of purses left unattended in a cart. She said she didn't care and laughed at me for saying anything. Less than a week later there were TWO thefts in that store... hope she was one of them!

The stupid thing about stealing Howard's wallet, is that the cards are useless... he's a household name. Easy to catch those people. I really don't understand the stealing mentality. Sometimes people go through so much work to be dishonest.. if they actually put that type of effort into a business or a job, they wouldnn't have to steal.

13. Oh, I'm Sure Those Cards Can be Used
People are surprisingly clueless. Yale used to have a president whose name was Kingman Brewster, of all things, who had his cards stolen and used all over town. I can just picture a liquor store employee looking at the brother who handed it to him and thinking nothing was amiss.

11. Jeez that's terrible...
Here in Seoul, you can throw your bag up on the luggage rack, fall asleep, wake up at your stop and pick your bag/briefcase up off the rack.

Same goes for Japan.
