Dems Sue N.H. GOP Over Phone-Jamming
CONCORD, N.H. -- Democrats sued the Republican Party's state committee and its former executive director over the jamming of telephones set up to take calls from Democrats seeking rides to the polls on Election Day 2002.

The lawsuit also names the head of a telemarketing firm who has been charged in a separate federal investigation with conspiring to jam five telephone lines at Democratic Party offices, party officials said Tuesday.
...

The lawsuit seeks an injunction preventing the GOP from engaging in illegal activities in the November election and seeks damages for the cost of setting up offices and telephone lines for getting voters to the polls in 2002. Prosecutors say the lines were jammed for about 1 1/2 hours.

Many state and federal races were decided in the 2002 election, including a close U.S. Senate contest between outgoing Democratic Gov. Jeanne Shaheen and Republican Rep. John Sununu, who won.

2. A little too late.
What should happen is the election should be held again. He has four more years of votes in the Senate and what was done was illegal.

7. It proves that they KNOW they can't win fair and square.
Not that fairness even occurs to them as an option regardless of the odds.

8. Don't forget, if they lose, the pukes will appeal until

they get to SCOTUS where they have a majority and will always win.

I think we have to impeach some Supreme Court justices, or else even if we get a Kerry/Edwards administration and a Democrat-controlled Congress, no legislation we pass will last any longer than it take for it to get reviewed by SCOTUS.

I know there are some who say the justices can't be impeached, but since Constitutionally they serve only during their good behavior, and they misbehaved badly in the 2000 selection, I think it could be done.

11. Who says justices can't be impeached?
Justices have been impeached going all the way back to the first Supreme Court.

9. there's also a federal criminal case re this incident
Some rethuglicans are facing felony charges that could bring several years in the klink; one has already pleaded guilty. The Union Leader has an archive of stories on this case:

http://www.theunionleader.com/articles_showfast.html?article=40146

Some snippets:

The Justice Department said the investigation is continuing. It said the jamming involved more than 800 computer-generated calls and lasted for about 1½ hours on Nov. 5, 2002, the day New Hampshire voters decided many state and federal races, including the U.S. Senate race between outgoing Gov. Jeanne Shaheen and Republican Rep. John E. Sununu, who won.

William Clayton, president of the Manchester firefighters union, said he was pleased that investigators were pursuing the case.

(...)

Clayton said the union has been providing rides to the polls for 14 years, “and we have repeat customers in the elderly high-rises. We never ask them who they are voting for, and ultimately, it was those people who got hurt.

“When you start taking votes from the elderly, who work hard to get to the polls, it’s unfortunate,” said Clayton. “And it made us look bad. Some got the feeling we let them down. I just hope (investigators) keep pursuing this and bring those responsible to justice.”

Looks like the fat's in the fire now, praise the lord -- high damn time, too.

Mary
