Report: Editor of Russian Forbes Killed
MOSCOW - Paul Klebnikov, the editor of Forbes Magazine's Russian edition and author of a book about tycoon Boris Berezovsky, was shot and killed late Friday near his Moscow office, Russian news reports said.

The reports cited Moscow police as saying Klebnikov suffered four pistol shots and died in a rescue-squad vehicle. The radio station Ekho Moskvy said shells of two different caliber were found at the scene, indicating at least two attackers.

Police and Forbes officials could not immediately be reached for confirmation.

Forbes started its Russian-language edition in April. Klebnikov, U.S.-born of Russian heritage, previously had been a senior editor with the U.S.-based Forbes.

2. Watched a report on "Wide Angle" last night on PBS
About the shooting of 2 Russian newspaper editors of the same newspaper. Really a sad story, so much hope for democracy but Russia since Putin is turning back to the bad old days of the Soviets.

6. Putin is on the same side as the dead editor
He is going after the Mafiya on behalf of the Russian people, whose patrimony was looted by this gang of pinstriped thugs which can be likened to the * Crime Family in this country.

Russia is now in the grips of a "banking crisis" orchestrated by the oligarchs. The oligarchs would do the same thing to this country if a Putin-like figure replaced *.

We are beginning to see some of that already, as disinvestment is occurring from this country, but I think it is more because of revulsion at the policies of the mad dictator in the White House, which prudent financial observers can see as leading to the eventual ruin of our economy and, more important, the U.S. dollar's status as a reserve currency.

BTW, I do not see Putin as some sort of saint. I would say he's got brass gonads to do what he's doing to the kleptocrats, though.

3. I read the book he wrote about Beresovsky...
..and my money is on him, he ordered the hit...this has nothing to do with the government...Klebnikov wasn't a Kremlin critic or anything, he wrote for Forbes.

4. It's Putin vs the Oligarchs
Court officials could take cash from the bank accounts
of Yukos's parent company, NK OAO Yukos, but have not
done so, an indication that the Kremlin is keen to
avoid economic and political fallout from any interruption
in Yukos's production or wage payments.
