Senate Won't Overturn War Dead Media Ban
WASHINGTON -- The Senate refused on Monday to change a Pentagon policy banning media coverage of America's war dead as their remains arrive in flag-draped caskets.

"It's an outrage," said Sen. Frank Lautenberg, who had sponsored legislation to restore coverage of homecoming ceremonies at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.

1. Did the Senate also ban the news from telling the total war dead daily?
Once the deaths reached 800, the media stopped reporting total numbers and now they just report the number dead in single incidents.

These poor RW muther effers have NO idea how many of our men & women are dying over there.

2. I need to hug a fuzzy animal, too
PBS NOW devastated the P-cons this weekend, showing that they are purposefully hiding the "non-combat" dead and injured.

If it weren't for fuzzy animals, I'd be crazy angry.

Wait, I am crazy angry.

Well, it'd be worse.

Anyway, I want every coffin covered coming home covered live:
like every shock and awe bomb was.

3. have to say that I was surprised to see
ABC Evening news showing the dead bodies of the 4 marines lying where they were found in Iraq on the tube tonight.

Was very graphic newsblurb coverage.

7. CBS did too!
I was also surprised! The casualties of war right here in our living rooms?

My son is a Marine, though not yet in Iraq. Seeing those four young men brought tears to my eyes.

12. Not only was Reagan's coffin
in our face, we paid to have it jetted cross-country - twice - and paraded around and displayed like it was some sort of holy relic we were all supposed to venerate.

The remains of this 93-year-old alzheimer's patient, who left the political stage long ago, were given a send-off worthy of the worst excesses of British royalty. Meantime, the teenage enlistees, their lives cut short due to Bushco's arrogance, greed, and illegal, criminal invasion of Iraq, are ordered hidden from view by the same hypocrites falling all over themselves to honor "the gipper."

Disgusting and vile.

6. Oh, well that's just fine, just fine and dandy indeed. Then there should
also be a ban on covering ANY dead that result from this "war on terra". So, should there be another "terrist" attack, there should be no propaganda coverage. And if they just so happen to get Shrub or any of his cronies, same thing - no coverage.

It is a war after all!

Yet this idiot-son-of-an-asshole would use the flag draped fireman on a gurney image from 9-11 in one of his stupid ads. Guess that was before the "war on terra" was declared, huh?

10. here's the difference between Repugs and Dems...

Congressional Dems, for whatever reason right or wrong, will not march lockstep to protect a failure of a President. The Repugs in Congress exist solely and completely as an arm of the misAdministration. No independent thought, no notion of their constituents' needs. "Must protect President" is their only operating procedure.

I gotta admit, they have discipline. Of course, so did the SS.

14. Another Brick In The Wall!
Congress (the House and the Senate) has been bought and paid for since roughly the moment Clinton took the Oath of Office. This cowardly move by the Senate is just one more disgusting example.

20. Lyrics: 5:45 - Gang of Four

How can I sit and eat my tea,
with all that blood flowing from the television.
At a quarter to six,
I watch the news,
Eating, eating all my food
As I sit watching the red spot
In the egg which looks like
All the blood you don't see on the television.

Still body now, no movement yet
Five men lie die flat on their backs
Were they born to lie in state
Defend the ever stagnate great?

Down on the street assassinate
All of them look so desperate
Declared blood war on the bourgeois state

Watch new blood on the 18 inch screen
The corpse is a new personality
Ionic charge gives immortality
The corpse is a new personality

Down on the street assassinate
All of them look so desperate
Declared blood war on the bourgeois state

Watch new blood on the 18 inch screen
The corpse is a new personality
Watch new blood on the 18 inch screen
The corpse is a new personality
...

Guerilla war struggle is a new entertainment
Guerilla war struggle is a new entertainment
...

Down on the street assassinate
All of them look so desperate
Declared blood war on the bourgeois state
