Bush: Afghanistan is a victory over terrorism
CNN Story Here

More "Mission Accomplished" rhetoric from our very own Baghdad Bob. Unbelievable.

<snip>
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush on Tuesday claimed victory in the war on terrorism in Afghanistan and announced what he called five new initiatives to strengthen the links between that country and the United States.

Bush praised the visiting head of Afghanistan's interim government, Hamid Karzai, as a man of "honor, courage and skill helping to build a new and democratic Afghanistan."

"That journey to democracy and peace deserves the support and respect of every nation," he said at a Rose Garden news conference after a meeting with Karzai, "because free nations do not breed the ideology of terror."

"Coalition forces, including many brave Afghans, have brought America, Afghanistan and the world its first victory in the war on terror," the president said. "Afghanistan is no longer a terrorist factory sending thousands of killers into the world."
</snip>

Er, he may want to check with the Al Qaeda and Taliban fighters in the border regions. Or the warlords in virtually every area outside Kabul.

1. record opium crop this year
Dubya sez: "Afghanistan is no longer a terrorist factory sending thousands of killers into the world." Instead, it is sending millions of tons of heroin to the streets of our cities to do the killing.

"Afghanistan, after a two-year lapse, is once again "the world's largest cultivator and producer" of opium and heroin, according to the 2004 White House National Drug Control Strategy. Afghani crops in 2003 were more than double the 2002 crop, Weiner points out. "The future looks even worse: A U.N. report says that two out of every three Afghan farmers plan to increase their poppy crop in 2004," he stated."

4. On Tuesday, 18 March, 2003 the BBC told me,
that Afghanistan - among other democratic freedom loving countries like:

Albania, Australia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Colombia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Eritrea, Estonia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, the Netherlands, Nicaragua, the Philippines, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom and Uzbekistan

would be a member of the coalition of the willing.

So now, about more than a year after Afghanistan did liberate Iraq, it has become a victory over terrorism????

As much, as I try to understand Bush, I'm too slow between the ears.

"Afghanistan is no longer a terrorist factory sending thousands of killers into the world."

Like the killers they send to Iraq as a member of the coalition of the willing not too long ago?

Hello from Germany,
Dirk
