Two Blasts Heard in Center of Baghdad
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Two explosions were heard near the U.S.-led coalition headquarters in central Baghdad on Saturday, witnesses said.

The first explosion occurred near "Assassin's Gate," which is one of the main entrances into the so-called Green Zone, where the U.S. coalition is based. Earlier this week, four foreigners were killed when an explosion destroyed their armored-plated car in the same area.

4. He seems damned pleased with himself.
You'd think these people are real dignitaries if you didn't know who they are and what they've done.

Why doesn't he take some of our taxes he's been stashing away with Bush's blessings, and buy himself a better fitting suit?

3. can't wait to hear what river has to say
about this bozo who is alleged to be the one who was responsible for the ingeniously bogus intell that duped Blair into saying that "Iraq has the capability of launching dirty bombs into the UK within 45 minutes" and who may just be a cousin of Challabi's.

And yet another briallant stroke in winning the hearts and minds
of a propaganda worn and very savvy people.

We must stop underestimating the Iraqi's. They aren't as gullible as we are.

6. nothing "they" want us to see...seems to be media blackout
Saturday, May 29, 2004 4:18 a.m. ET

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A mortar landed about 400 meters (yards) from the headquarters of the U.S.-led administration in central Baghdad on Saturday wounding four people, one of them seriously, Iraqi police said.

The four wounded were employees queuing up at a security checkpoint to get into the Iraqi Housing Ministry, a police officer said. U.S. military had no immediate comment. Insurgents regularly attack the U.S. headquarters, known as the "Green Zone" with mortars.

7. What amazes me about these daily blasts at or near the Green Zone
is that only Iraqis get killed or injured. No Coalition troops ever get hurt. These guys either need to develop a better aim or hang it up. What a waste of ammo. They just keep killing innocent people who just happen to be in the wrong place at the right time apparently.

13. Of course I don't believe them. It's seems to me to be impossible to
think that there are never American or 'Coalition' casualities every time something goes boom at or near the Green Zone. I didn't hit the sarcasm button because I thought it would be obvious how improbable or impossible this could be.

9. Again,this now commonplace; is this news to hide the news?
60 ambushes a day against American forces and we are still taking note of the Baghdad boom booms.

Not to say that lives being threatened there aren't precious, but there is nothing really newsworthy about the "green zone" being under attack.
