Scare Tactics Used To Make Reservists Re-Enlist (PLEASE DELETE-DUPE)
Edited on Mon May-24-04 10:16 AM by Beware the Beast Man
Sorry if this is a dupe:

CHICAGO -- As part of an aggressive recruiting effort, Army and National Guard officials have warned inactive reservists that they could face being sent back to Iraq unless they re-enlist in the active reserves or join their local Guard units, according to a published report.

MariAnn Curta told the Chicago Tribune in a story published Sunday that a recruiter called her last weekend, saying her 22-year-old son Bill -- who recently completed a nine-month tour of duty in Iraq -- could be headed back there unless he enlisted in the Illinois National Guard.

Not that we have to wait for a draft bill to pass, or anything! /sarcasm off

1. That sounds abut right. The miltary used to be full of intimidation
bullying, politics, and railroading much more often than you would care to believe.

And THAT was during the Days of the Old American Republic 15-20 years ago.

I have no doubt that, now that Bunnypants* has turned our once-proud military into the Amermacht, it is MUCH worse than even Abu Ghrahib would suggest, I think.

I have absolutely ZERO doubt this is going on.

2. There are rumors
of soldiers being severely beaten for saying that they will not reenlist. They call it getting a 'blanket party'.

4. Part of what is at issue is there is (are) NO "9 month tour(s)"
anything less than a year does not count and makes the soldier eligible to go back and complete a FULL year...meaning, not 3 additional months, but an entire 365 (additional) days.

that's just one way they are screwing all soldiers.....active, reserve, NG and inactive reserves...

so while the soldier doesn't have to join or go to Iraq (and such is a lie and a threat)...if you are attached to a unit that has already spent it's year in country, you have a good chance of not going back for 6 months to a year...otherwise, you can go back at any point because you didn't serve the year that IS (currently) mandatory in Iraq for it to count as time served.
