Bush forced to fight for La. votes (The South is Not a lock!)
May 21, 2004  |  WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush, forced to defend a Deep South state he comfortably won four years ago, is trying to offset the attention Democratic rival John Kerry is lavishing on Louisiana.

Bush combines a pitch for votes and money Friday as he delivers the commencement address at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge before heading to a New Orleans suburb to speak to Republican Party donors.

His remarks at LSU will drive home the themes of responsibility and service to society, the White House said. It will echo the president's commencement speech last week in Wisconsin, where he suffered a narrow loss in 2000.

The Kerry campaign has unexpectedly put conservative-leaning Louisiana in play and Bush's re-election campaign is responding in kind. The state is one of 19 targeted by Kerry with a $25 million TV advertising buy, and he has visited three times in the past two months. Bush has responded with advertising, too.

2. This is good news
" Kerry's advisers think Louisiana and its nine electoral votes have become more attractive to Democrats in recent years, particularly because of manufacturing job losses there under Bush's administration."

3. "Responsibility and service..." That's a good one!
His remarks at LSU will drive home the themes of responsibility and service to society, the White House said.

You mean like bankrupting every business you ever had (which were financed by Middle Eastern, terror-loving sheiks) after going AWOL?

4. Well, of course
Bush is talking about the graduates' responsibility and service to society, which is to shop, consume, buy SUVs, etc., and if they're poor, or can't get a job, to enlist in the military.

When a Repug talks about service to society and responsibility, it only goes one way.

5. No doubt he will bring up the Volunteer work of his airheaded daughters
One will do volunteer work on AIDS and the other, some other kind of charitable work, forget what after they graduate

Never have they shown one bit of concern toward others, much less those poor persons. One was interested in fashion and the other traipsed around California -- both did the Europe scene, being seen at all the tredy restaraunts, and now it seems they both have had an epiphany. Like their lying Dad, they will declare all that other stuff was merely due to wild youth.

Soon we will begin to see quotes from them that are so Sally Fieldish. Actually, they may be being honed, ie building up a political biography, so they can run for office. One will run for Governor of Texas and the other for Governor of Florida. Neither have the brains to do the job, but it will not matter. Those around them, neocons and their survivors, will do it for them . One then will run for president against Hillary Clinton--and will fix the election anyway they can, having been brought up to understand it is their right and their legacy to steal an election because they are Bushes
