Iranian President: US should apologize for profaning holy sites in Iraq
Tehran, May 17, IRNA -- President Mohammad Khatami said here Sunday evening that Washington should apologize for the destruction and absence of respect it has shown on holy Muslim sites in Iraq.
Addressing a joint meeting of his cabinet ministers and governors-general of different provinces, he said one cannot remain silent in the face of the alarming developments in war-torn Iraq.

Condemning the sacrilege committed by US occupying forces on Muslim holy shrines in Iraq, he stressed that world Muslims, in particular Shiites, will not remain silent in the face of such aggression.

The US is currently pursuing dangerous policies that are threatening peace in the region and the entire world more than at any other time, President Khatami stressed.

3. Actually...
The US troops must be withdrawn. It is not surprising that Iraqis are using various means to eject occupation troops.

4. If they're gonna fight they're gonna fight...
But if you firing weapons and storing weapons in and from the mosque, don't be suprised when we fire back said mosque, which by the way loses it's proection under the Geneva convention as soon as it's used as a firing position or storage of arms.

Heyo

5. Ha, ha, he said "Geneva Convention"
I didn't think that applied in Iraq.

Also--they didn't start this war. We did.

12. Yes, it loses its "protection" in that case.
But that doesn't mean the US isn't open to criticism. Especially when the US lies about these kinds of things and says "gunfire was coming from" such and such a location to justify the killing of civilians "on accident."

11. Uh, how many more civilians have to be Murdered by the U.S.?

Before you realize this whole invasion is an immoral catastrophe
just like we said it would be.

Iraq belongs to the Iraqi people and the west has spent the last 150 years denying that basic right.

But hey, I guess you would gladly welcome foreign invaders into your neck of the woods.

2. I'm sure that Powell will soon lecture us Americans
That we're not sufficiently outraged by the desecration of Muslim holy places. Right?

13. Powell preaches "You Arabs,...",...natural response, "You Americans".
I am not surprised at such a response when Powell lectured the Arab community about its failure to demonstrate sufficient outrage at an event which the Arab community has doubts include members of their community.
