Colombian Justice Cracks Down on Officials
BOGOTA, Colombia (Reuters) - Colombia's scandal-battered attorney general's office on Wednesday ordered criminal investigations into eight former and serving staff suspected of links to cocaine traffickers, far-right paramilitaries and Marxist rebels.
Arrest warrants were issued against three state prosecution service officials, the office said in a news release.
One was accused of links to far-right paramilitaries in the city of Cucuta, another of impeding the confiscation of property belonging to the sister of a suspected cocaine trafficker, and a third of improperly stopping legal action against 126 suspected Marxist rebels.
Five other former prosecutors and employees of the Attorney General's Office were also under investigation in connection with drug traffickers.
