U.S. Guardsman Probed for Iraq Naked Soldier Photos

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - The former head of a U.S. military police unit at Baghdad's Abu Ghraib prison was under investigation following charges he secretly photographed naked female U.S. soldiers as they showered, officials said on Wednesday.

Capt. Leo Merck, 32, a member of the California National Guard who commanded the 124-strong 870th Military Police Company, was under U.S. Army investigation and has been relieved of duty, they said.

"Three of our soldiers were in the shower. If you just walked by the shower you could see their ankles," said Lt. Michael Drayton, who took over command of the unit after Merck was removed in November.

"My understanding is that he was taking pictures. One of the soldiers noticed the flash," he told Reuters. snip

"I saw a guy get on all fours with a digital camera in his hands. His head was going under the wall, and we made eye contact," she told the newspaper. "I was in shock, like what do I do now?"

2. Probing is the new rage in Iraq.
Whether it be for weapons, chemicals, pics or just your garden variety anal type.probing is certainly in vogue in yonder desert.

4. Seems to be quite a lot of stories
involving guardsmen. With so many reports of some of them being so upset at having their time in Iraq extended, I wonder if some of these guys aren't doing things just so they get sent home. Remember MASH's Klinger?

5. All of these abuses should be taken to the top.
Except the top people in charge NEVER served in the military, or at least during a war or an invasion.

You say Grenada and I say Iraqi.
You say al queda and I say shitake.

blah blah blah

Let's call the whole thing off.
